All fires start off small Fizzy. My "opinion" and purely that is the crews will never have encountered that type of Fire before. I would hazard a guess they have not been trained and had no idea what was on fire and what they would need to extinguish it. I dont pretend i would either to be honest. I have been left 17 years though.
Fire blankets work great on battery fires. They even do whole car ones now. And I would have thought powder or sand would be just as effective. Perhaps they should make sure such shops have a bucket of sand or 2 handy.All fires start off small Fizzy. By the time they evaluated what action to take it would have taken hold and the latest methods are defensive (for good reason) if you dont have speed and weight of attack on your side with that type of building and I am guessing fire loading.

Same as an lpg cylinder. But one of our guys was traumatised after spending 10 mins cooling and containing a large calor cylinder. Only to find it was actually hiding a 12 year old boy.

It amazes me how they can actually determine the cause of a fire in a massive destruction like this where a whole building and everything in it has burnt collapsed and been waterlogged.

Revealed: Shop where Glasgow fire started had not registered to sell vapes or paid business taxes
A Ferret investigation has found there was no registration to sell vapes at the Union Street premises in Glasgow where a major fire started - and we can reveal the name of the company behind the shop.
The theory is sound, but co2 needs to be into an enclosed space and at upto 43%by volume to extinguish a fire ( batteries not so sure), extra co2 can be added to allow for openings / space leakage, but a little extinguisher with a fully open door aint going to cut it!
That raises a good point, I only charge things overnight on a granite worktop, maybe that’s not even safe if something exploded.
