Any phone screens in view near window?
I use mine outside without problems but I was suprised my phone screen and tv triggers it everytime, unsure why, older phone is no problem.

I did move my phone into my pocket , as I normaly prop it in the window so as not to fill it with grinding dust , and admittedly it has made it better , but it only happens when in the afternoon when the sun is beaming through the window . It’s not all the time , just when I am / the visor is at a particular angle .

I gave up trying to use it outside as it just flashed the daylight out of me .

I am not to worried as for my £40 I am still happy and accept it is not a £400 mask .

@Kram , silly question, what happens if you catch an arc flash through the side windows, it's just not as bad as if unfiltered?

@Onoff Side windows are a proper welding shade with IR and UV filters, cant remember what number, 8 or 9? a bit light but its not going to hurt you. Ive done some beads looking at it through the side.

Two purchased. If I have C19 symptoms for much longer I'll be bankrupt!

My two daughters want to learn how to weld, stick, MIG and TIG, and I could do with a spare in case my posh Lincoln fails. £36.54 each seems a steal for True Colour.

If they don't keep it up then I'll flog one, but I have a feeling they may personalise them somewhat, so not sure what they will be like afterwards........

Teaching them should be fun, I will need to up my game, and possibly invite somebody else around who really knows there stuff. Depends if they just want to stop at glueing a couple of bits of steel together.....

I couldnt remember but I'm sure I read the side window shade in the listing or somewhere, probably should be stamped on the lenses. I'll have a look tomorrow when I stick a few parts.

Used the Ginour mask in anger today. Just to stick an angle X brace together with the little Aldi inverter stick. I'm narrowing a set of shelves I made years back by 100mm so as I can get a cupboard in next to them. Ground and painted to hide the embarrassment but it's not going anywhere!

Only pita is switching between grind & weld. The switch is up inside the mask and with gloved hands you knock the other controls. Then I forgot to switch back to weld after tacking it and got a good flash!

Amazon had it on a lightening deal a couple of days ago for £36.54, so couldn't resist. The head strap does seem a bit weak, but the visibility is great. Tried it briefly today with the stick welder and certainly makes it a good bit clearer seeing what you are actually doing compared to my earlier non true colour mask. When you are not an expert, every little help makes it a bit easier!

As aforementioned on the "fixed today" thread I used the mask in anger yesterday on the swinging love seat repair. I thought I was in the shade afforded by the seats canopy. No amount of adjustment of sensitivity, delay etc could make it stop "flashing" as in screen clear / screen dark. Vomit, fit inducing!

Bloody annoying. The IFL mask was tbh no better.

Only worked when I used my body to shield the work.

Probably be fine in a garage setting.

Probably because the sun was so bright.

Don't know but there's enough screen to stop the UV damage that causes flash. If it's sunlight causing the triggering you need to get it under cover.

That's the thing, I was under the shade of the awning as in in shadow.

Im still getting the flashing , tried changing the settings , less shade , more shade , less sensitive , more sensitive . No difference , just harder to see or brighter when welding .

It doesn’t seem to matter if the sun is infront of me or behind me , I just spend too much time trying to move around until it stops flashing . Shame as it doesn’t seem to matter what you do , it persists .

Mine arrived this morning.
The headband seems a bit lightweight, but I'll not be putting this to commerical use and I expect it will last long enough.
Fun and games putting the headband back in after I'd removed it to gain proper access to the dark module to check the batteries.
I'll see how it shapes up, but initial impressions are good.

I just bought one of these because my GYS Spaceview has gone wrong again. Should be here today so I'll give it a test run.

I like the spaceview but it's been unreliable and the build quality of the sensor module isn't great.

You could have borrowed mine to try. You saying about sensors, I wonder if the quality varies which is why @Sam` and I are maybe having issues. It was tbf, fine in use the other day under the car.
