The bar is cashless, you buy tokens, one pint is two tokens. Works out at £6-60 a pint. A bit expensive but NVRF is non profit, the bar pays for a lot.

You GB folk may not be aware but proper beer/ale is virtually non existent on tap here in NI.
The closest we have would be Bass and Smithwicks which are fizzy commercial ales.
Most pubs here just have lager, cider and Guinness on tap.
A few places keep bottled ales but if you want to drink proper beer your only choice is to go to big supermarkets like Tesco.

I spent some time in England in my younger years and I developed a liking for ales. Websters was good but my favourite was Batemans. Had to limit your consumption as it was an effective laxative.

Been over to Scotland a few times and developed a liking for Belhaven.

You GB folks don't know how lucky you are having such a wide choice of good beer.

I find that draught cider is better than canned or bottled. I presume its the same with beer?

Draught peroni is lovely. Far better than warm real ale rubbish.

Draught peroni is lovely. Far better than warm real ale rubbish.

Nothing better than a proper English ale drunk ambient!

As much as I've tried I can't abide hipster pale ales that have heavy citrus notes. Not keen on Brewdog's offerings.

Still have a soft spot for Greene King IPA on draught though.

If you don’t like beers why punish yourself? How about wine? In the south of France they serve chilled red wine. Goes down a treat.

In Italy, an authentic thin crust pizza served with a jug of local wine can be exquisite.

There are few alcoholic drinks i dislike. Persevere and they get better the more you drink.

If you ever get chance, try their Arrowaine. That's nice.

Greene King Abbot ale was a favourite, never the same after they stopped using water from their own borehole and used mains supplied by Thames water
