it turns out George Michael was quite a generous guy, he gave a woman 15 grand for ivf treatment, wrote a cheque for 25 grand and gave it to a waitress to pass to a woman in a café that was sat crying due to debt, gave millions to child line, I think there was more but cant remember all I read and apparently volunteering at a homeless shelter

I am sorry I was no fan of gm, it is sad he has gone for his friends and family. But he is gone.
A lot more talented people have gone this year,, so why has Radio dedicated a whole show to him.

It is sad he passed away, true. I was not a fan of his.
But I feel that today, of any day of the year, for radio to donate a whole show to him at the expense of others who have passed away recently was in poor taste.

Yes he had talent, for music and other stuff what the press hounded him for. Yes he donated a lot of money to what he called a good cause.

For a national radio station to give him all the air time, and forgetting other famous and talented people was in my view bad taste.

they give more air time to more popular artists its as simple as that, its all about ratings and money, people don't show as much interest in lesser achieving artists so their ratings would suffer

The answer is down to political correctness. Certain sections of society are treated more "equally" than others, especially by institutions like the BBC. A middle aged straight white man who doesn't do drugs would merely merit a brief mention, by contrast.

People need to remember entertainment is a job and fundamentally is all about money. No one on here knew George Michael, indeed lets face it often it can take many years to know what some one is truly like living with them everyday.

You can mourn no more than a entertainers performance not the person. It is unfortunately in the medias interest to make as much as possible out of the death of entertainers.

The reality is to put things in prospective many children died over Christmas which in reality is a far sadder thing.

I'm not being horrible to the death of George Michael. He may have been a great chap but I don't know him nor does anyone else unless you had close contact on a regular basis which goes for all performers.

People lay flowers by the van load to mark the passing of complete strangers - the only ones benefiting are florists and the media [as said].
