Any loss of life is sad, whether in the public eye or not, famous musicians and actors are just doing a job of work as previously stated, and have heard this first hand.

The reality is to put things in prospective many children died over Christmas which in reality is a far sadder thing.

I don't care how many children died over Christmas, a life is a life regardless of their age, if you're going to be sad then be sad for all humans beings that have died.

I'm sorry you find my post offensive it wasn't intended to be but I find Rocketman's post highly offensive, a children's life isn't worth more than an adult's life they are worth exactly the same no more no less.

Although for many people famous people and celebrities are and will always bee at face value, strangers, it still doesn't mean that they don't feel part of your life.

I wasn't a huge fan of George Michael, but growing up in the 80s and 90s it feels like part of my childhood has also gone, in the same way as Mohammad Ali, Terry Wogan and all the others who've passed this year.

I don't think anyone would try and liken it a Child or a "real" loved one dying but it's still a shock albeit for a day or so.

I've never met the man and probably never will but it will be a very sad day when someone like David Jason passes away as I've grown up with him on TV for most of my life. You associate celebrities with your own memories and I guess that's why they strike a chord

i think wookie's post was worded badly as opposed to, he doesnt care if children died, i think his post meant that we should care for everyone equally, no one persons life is worth less then the next person

if someone had produced a tv play or wrote a book where this many celebs had popped off in 1 years they would have been pulled to bits for it, its shocking how many well known people have gone, i guess its just the way the cookie crumbles, many people die each day its just pot luck as to how well known they are i suppose

What we're seeing now is the rise of the baby boomer star deaths. For those os us of a certain age, it will continue for a few years until we all eventually shuffle off our clogs in the company of one or two of them.
Popular culture expanded at an exponential rate in the 60s and 70s, and there were many more people looking to become famous and rich than ever before, and the mechanism was in place to enable it, if they were good enough. The endless maw that was the recording, movie, TV and other industries were developing at a new pace.

Hey, that can be my claim to fame - I pegged it same day as Bob Dylan (if he or I live as long).
