Camera would be great, I mentioned it when I rang big cheese, thought they might have sent me one,

Find a camera that has a low lux value,get an clear glass 40w bulb and see if you can change the light switch to a dimmer switch.
Set the camera up and connect to a monitor,in night time get someone to slowly adjust the dimmer switch fractionally and stop each time to verify the best setting on the screen ie you're trying to get into the best infared spectrum setting.

the bulb needs to be just about glowing.

me and a mate took the shotguns and a ferret to an empty hen house . put the ferret in rat hole and bolted them out just had to be carefull not to shoot your foot off with ecitement when they flew out

I get mice in my garage workshop every winter, The building is well insulated & i can hear the little ******** munching through the kingspan.
Its quite fun to sit there with the air pistol & take a pop at the ceiling where you think they are.
However brodifacoome wax bocks are far better though last winter i must have done in so many the smell wasnt pleasant.

I have had a sonic thingy plugged in all year, If the mice can hear it they must think its dance music, because it had no effect at all, The lady at big cheese has sent me free of charge their newest sonic model, but she said not to use it until the poison stops being eaten. One of the components of the wax blocks was not being eaten, little white bits a bit like grains of rice. they must have licked the white bits clean and spit them out again.

We get them at work now an then. One former employee suggested resing some sharp bits of metal over the access hole...when the mouse comes running up through the hole...bang...impaled on a bit of sharp metal.....

Just use the little nipper traps and a little chocolate.

If you know someone with a cat, borrow a blanket it sleeps on and put it in the garage. The smell of a cat stops mice from breeding and they leave.

Gluey Luey sticky mats really do work, nail them down on to some board and sprinkle in the middle with bait - Job Done

Do nail them down as I've seen the buggers scamper off with them and be prepared to find the odd leg only, had one where the critter chewed off leg to escape

I used to get mice in the garage. Never bothered me much as little for them to damage. However having 5 cats that can now get in the garage to shelter from elements if locked out of the house means mice aren't "in residence" any more.
Neighbours suffer from mice and normally they just leave the garage door open so my cats can "do their stuff". They bring the mice home and normally eat so all I find is the occasional tail under the carport. Rats they tend to just kill and not eat for some reason - unlike squirrels which I just find tails !

One of my wife's friends was telling me her cat has bought in several mice to the house - still in the traps !

Best I have heard was a 5 gallon (imperial measurement-mercy please) bucket with a couple of inches of water in it with a layer of grain on top. They jump in thinking its a solid surface.

Good old spring traps, can't beat them. Bait with peanut butter, works every time in my shed.

christ thats major infestation there must be a fair few of em coming in i only need a few blocks putting down in the sheds and by second bating there gone

Came here thinking I was going to see some well designed mice to go with the cat that Gordon showed yesterday

The lads did a couple of weeks work in a live refuse transfer station, the rats were the size of cats and there were thousands of them.
There were a few 360's tracking round inside - lots of corrugated flat rats all over when the machines went over them. They were all really docile as they must have been poisoned - the concreting lads used to play cricket with the really slow ones...with a shovel.

Antifreeze is good, they like it as it is sweet, but you have to be careful where you put it as cats like it as well, and it can kill them as well.

Traps are better than poison. If you poison they can crawl off to an inaccessible cavity to die and then you can get smell / maggots etc.

For a bit of light relief, we usually get a toad in the shed over winter; they make themselves known by croaking grumpily when I start doing something noisy like grinding.

I have got a tall new tin box with a lid, When i get round to it i will turn it into a trap with a cantilever drawbridge to drop them into the tin when tempted by the pasta and maybe a little chocolate, This is turning into a proper cat and mouse game,

EDIT, Just knocked this homemade mouse catcher. Piece of cantilever rule with peanut butter smeared half way down the inside of the tin,
