I helped out a welder doing some hard-facing when I was an apprentice, it was setup in a bath and we just had to change the direction when it got to the end. I didn’t have my shirt buttoned all the way up and the tradesman also had his sleeves rolled up, man we got some serious sun burn that day. Stupid, but never let it happen again at least.

That'll be all of the stuff I have, then. Too old to worry about it now.

There was a cadmium plating factory in my town, factory now closed. The men doing the plating all had sores around their mouths that never seemed to heal. Didn't seem like a good place to work on top of that the pay was minimum wages.

when I was a kid I used to climb inside the galv drum of a big tripe washer and weld up the splits/cracks, crap mig gun in one had, hand held mask in the other and a hose pipe in my mouth to breath through

had to remember to breath in through the hose (mouth) and out through the nose.... easy to slip up and try to breath in/out through the hose - breath the same air in and out again

was given a gas welding job fusing corners on galvie steel . was great number i thought sittng on a stool concentrating like mad
no one told me that white fluffy stuff floating about and goingup me nose was deadly
went home at night and it came on shakin like a leaf and chest hurting with every breath
best avoided id say ! and watch that silver solder some of it has cadmium in it

I have some silver solder rings that came from a munitions factory (second world war)
They were for soldering the ends on to brass cases
Be about 100 mm diameter
It flows very well
I will be using it outside from now on

It's very old. Came from the old Belling company in Enfield Middx. My old neighbor gave me masses of it over 35 years ago. Still using that and the flux.

Be very careful with it. Make sure you’ve got a respirator and good ventilation. It kills you in a nasty nasty way.

It’s an accumulative thing or when exposed in large quantities usually.
