I was given 2 of those trampolines & I have yet to find a use for the tubing. It is quite thin walled & when you grind off the galv there isn't a lot of steel left. I tried to weld a bit of it with the mig & it doesn't weld nicely. I might be able to use some of the push fit joints for something but it will probably all end up going back to China via the scrap yard!

The legs are good enough to stack on in the other to make a 12 foot or longer tall tube . Push a welded eybolt through the top end leg and add a 6 to 1 Haltrak type pulley set . Add a mtr long 30 x 30 angle iron with a welded on hoop in the middle & Hey Presto you have a fantastic aid for lifting in & out fence panels in H section posts all by yourself . Making up 400 x 400 foot plate with a peg on it for the tube to slip into at the bottom is also helpful to stop things sliding away . I used ratchet straps to secure the panels to the bar & old carabiners to fit them to the pulley & bar . Managed 22 panels most of which had to have a tad planed off with an electric plane over two days ( 10 hrs total time ) including treating the planed edges with preservative . took the old panels out with a sabre saw .
To get the height the easiest & safest way I found was start off with the top section and keep adding from below then put it on the foot plate at the centre of the panels base .

Dip it in citric acid and the galv will fizz off. Be interesting to see what's left...

One of those how long is a piece of string questions. How "strong" is your kettle descaler?

If you have citric acid (in its crystalline form, that's 100%) then in say a full kettle of water, half a cup of citric will be very strong. If you use a drainpipe, you can increase the strength without having to use so much of the powder.

You'll see if you have a decent strength because the zinc really fizzes off vigorously!

Vinigar (the clear stuff) removes zinc plating pretty darn good after not too lengthy a soak.
Like i say this tube is just scrap honestly

Been looking at my sheds & I need to have a clear out. I've gathered up quite a bit of copper cable & brass plus some scrap steel so a run to the scrappy is due, probably take along the trampolines. Whatever money I get I can use to buy some decent steel to use!

It's also worth making up three sticks of three of them & stacking them in a corner or on rafters out the way . For they are also good for making a set of Egyptian rollers to move heavy things . Moved a 1/3 tonne rock levered up & placed on blocks of ice to run slings under it & hoisted it up on a scaffold pole tripod . Hoisted up using a 2 ton chain hoist onto a 3/4 marine ply board slid five rollers under the board and made a pathway of rollers on the concrete paths with the rest and rolled it some 60 mtrs along the paths to make a patio feature down the garden , levered the rock up and my wife pushed a couple of heat sealed bags of frozen water under the edges so I could re insert the slings & winch it up off the board & rollers and lower it to the ground on top of the same ice bags , pulled the slings out and let the ice melt to locate the stone exactly where I wanted it .
I've also used them as rollers under boards to move four , four drawer filing cabinets from the roadside some 50 mtrs or so down the paths & into the garage .
Also moved my 300 lb + lathe on planks using them , both at the sellers home & back here when I got home .
They were also used to move a pals 6x 4 wooden shed along scaffold boards across his garden .

Don't need any more tubes I've been a good boy and kept nine of them .

Rollers, I never thought of that.

I had to move a heavy safe & it was hard to fine enough round pipe the same size for rollers. I ended up cutting up the pole of a roller blind!

I'll select a few straight pieces & keep them. Then it won't be as painful scrapping the rest!

I was interested in the vinegar solution (!) as I often use Zintec plated 3mm sheet for making stuff from. You can’t tig it directly as it just goes berserk with nastiness. I’d tried grinding it off but the weld pool spits at you as soon as you start.
So I soaked a bit of it in Tesco’s finest plain vinegar in a plastic tray and it looked like the zinc had vanished, the finish looked like clean steel: above - after and before.

It even welds ok, no nasties.

Zintec is a lot lot thinner than hot dipped galv tubing.

Put the tubing in the scrap and get a length from FH Brundle. They cut for £1.00 a cut.

Interesting about the vinegar ..I have 10 litres of 6 % white pickling vinegar that is about six years old still in the original container .

I've a lot of thin electro plated off cuts of 1.5 mm walled square & round tube . Deffo give the vinegar strip a go for I want to play tigging some thin mild steel in order to get my technique better .

I'd rather use the vinegar than the half litre of formic acid that I have .

I've had good results using steel electrical conduit as rollers.
Nice and low to the floor.
If the grounds a bit rougher I go for the scaffold or key way poles.
