...simples solution. You have 1/4 tank or less in your vehicle. Crack on fill up. Anymore should be a minimum £50 charge? Topping up from 3/4 full ...yep that's £50 for 10litres please.....and to stop the profiteering by the oil companies et al..just use the extra revenue generated to try get this country out of the mess it's in?

all good here at the moment anyway, not seen any shortages in any shops, (beer & bog roll is still plentiful) nor any dramas in the petrol stations etc.... for now all seems normal, well as normal as it gets here....

might be different in the major cities, but here no change...

Last Monday I went to fill up at a big Shell garage - no petrol only diesel. This Monday gone I went to the same garage - no diesel only petrol. There was a member of staff on the forecourt and I asked him what was going on - he said not enough drivers to keep up demand. So no fuel shrtage only logistic problems.

Now today everyone has gone bonkers around here and there's still queues at every petrol station. The fuel shortage is going to be self-prophetising because of these mongerels.

When every clown finally has a full tank, petrol stations will be deserted for days. I’ve got half a tank in my Mondeo still, good for 400+ miles, but my bike uses a tank full every 100. Still, raining today, so not biking anywhere.

I ’filled’ my trike up on Wednesday (pre-fuel crisis) as the tank looked half empty, and I have no idea the actual capacity or mpg it gets. So, I carefully start pumping, until I decide it’s got enough.....
..and I’ve added 3.5 litres.....

Pump says ‘minimum delivery 5 litres’ so seeing as there was not a soul around (pre-fuel crisis) I splashed the rest over the flower bed next to the pump.

That is because prior to Brexit trucks came fom the EU Unit, Trailer, Container and driver which there really should be no need for. Drop container at EU port collect container other side. Hense the shortage of skelly trailers / drivers. Not to mention lack of facilities for drivers in the UK. 60's 70's there were AFORDABLE truck stop diners everywhere. Not now. Stuck with EXTORTIONATE motorway services.

Problem was, not enough people used them - so they shut. Probably due to being on the old main roads, but when your customers shift to the motoways, you can't survive on nowt.

I don't see why people who work hard shouldn't be disgruntled by those that don't.
I understand we need a support system for when things go wrong of course we do.
But why should the workers pay for people to live beyond there means.
Why is it acceptable to be on the dole and have children. I don't mean existing children. I mean plan and have children without a way to support them.
The same goes for drinking and smoking.
Shelter food and warmth are a human right but anything beyond that should be earned.
Whilst the jobs arnt what people would choose any job is the first step on the ladder. You may learn something, you may just earn a good reference for the next job. Just because you take a job doesn't mean you have to do it forever. But we have grown a culture in this country of can't be bothered. I go on training courses, expensive ones at that, with people from the job center who sign up to something they have no clue about as it staves of getting a job for a bit longer. I have to try and motivate people from agency's who show up on my site not wanting to do the simplest and easiest of jobs purely on principal. And I am the bad guy for calling them out.
There are plenty on this planet who make a career out of not working not adding to society and thinking the world owes them. And tbh they should have the choice removed.
And it is entirely there own fault.
You can't blame private landlords. You can't blame the bosses. There are good and bad of both but good tenants will find good landlords and good workers will find good bosses.
If people can't find these things then maybe they should be looking inwards before blaming the world.

And just for reference.
I am in my 20's albeit only just. With a wife son and house of my own.
I have rented and simultaneously built up a deposit. Whilst working in an unskilled low pay job. I have worked my way up to supervisor with no qualifications. Purely by working hard and being devoted to my job.
So it is possible, you just have to work for it by taking whatever jobs going.

I did my uni time, got my engineering degree . . . and my first job after uni was litter picking, veering into dish washing, loo cleaning, shop till operation when there really was no-one else available. Mates with the same degree - they were too good for such jobs.

Willingness to work meant in 18mths went from litter picking to shift manager in a very busy motorway forecourt, to trainee manager in the restaurant - and then I left to start as a junior design engineer . . . willingness to do anything from design to making parts, building machines, installing, commisioning, fixing, anything and everything meant I survived staff reductions.

In current position with big multinational, the same attitude - gimme it, I'll do it . I was stunned when one of the guys working for me some years ago, a bloke I have the greatest respect for his real world engineering, diagnosis, fixing skills, on asking him to do something I would have done without a thought, said ". . . not my job . . ." . . . a simple phone call to arrange equipment needed to do his work. Luckily, as his boss, I was able to make it "his job"

I see it all over - "not my job" . . . or below their "skill" level . . .

Whereas our pattern maker, while occasionally a bit of an **** - I asked him once when I saw him cleaning factory gutters from our cherry picker if it annoyed him - nope, paid him the same to clean gutters as to make patterns,for which there was no demand at that time, so he was still working, still earning.

As an ex-employee of such a place, I do I know what goes on behind that door into the kitchen . . .

I did once turn up to shift to discover previous shift had topped up the fridge with coke bottles - for which we charged £1.50 I seem to recall . . .problem was, our supplier had sent us the wrong ones - the wrapper was already marked up with a price . . . 75p.

They must have sold the usual hundreds that morning before I noticed! Thing was you type a PLU code into the till, and that was the price charged . . .

Anyone who queues for fast food in a car or standing is a breed of person i never will understand...There must be a massive gratification in that 30 second beefburger of chicken nugget that resembles Cocaine. 20 mins or more queue for a 30 second fix is bizarre

I worked for a time in the US - used to occasionally nip down the road to Wendys for lunch . . . park the car, walk in, order, receive food, sit down, eat, walk out . . . past the same two lines of cars still waiting to get food . . .

When you really think about it.

I would thing UK fuel usage ex the pumps is fairly stable "week to week" - once the idiots have filled up the tanks en mass - it will absorb a lump of fuel stock - but they unless they all have 45 gallon drums hiden up in their bedrooms - this should only be a week long blip.

Thats my theory - hopefully the low demand will allow the distribution chain to refill their tanks back to usual stock levels.

Explained that to a friend yesterday . . . and they still queued, with a half a tank in the car, for an hour at 11pm last night to fill to the brim . . .

Aye. Shouldn't be an issue. By the time my tanks low be back to normal. Working local helps.

I'm baffled. Local Facebook pages are doing a garages with fuel spotting thing now. People are driving around using fuel to find fuel they wouldn't have needed if they weren't driving around looking for fuel.

According to the news the government is to fast track temporary work visa`s for 5000 foreign drivers,no mention of plucking 90,000 out of the 3.5million unemployed and training them to drive or encouraging the 600k hgv drivers that still hold an HGV licence but have thrown in the towel. .
