It's chronic round here. No diesel in the van. Literally less than 10 miles. Probably 20 miles worth in my bike so I'll be putting the few litres I have in the lawn mower can in so I can get to and home from work tomorrow. After that I'll have to either find some petrol or buy a train ticket.

Given how many garages around here have shut the pumps due to panic buying I consider myself lucky to have filled the tank Friday morning
Should do me for a couple of week with my current jobs location.

There’s been queues here for fuel and there are petrol stations out of fuel.

Local petrol stations empty here; I have another seven or eight days worth of fuel in the car solely for getting to/from work - two weeks until October break!

At least cycling is a viable option once or twice.

I filled up both cars the week before the rush, not on purpose the cars were needing fuel. I cycle to work and my wife is still working from home so we’re not rushing out to join the queue.

Rubbish isn’t it.

I have just over half a tank in my van which will be mostly gone tomorrow getting to work. I won’t be able to get back on that I don’t think. I have some diesel in a can from when I hired machines but transit customs have some anti syphon thing so I can put it in without the nozzle. My Landy has no fuel in it either which js helpful.

And my petrol car has its usual 3/4 full tank?
And for the next two weeks or so I have no pressing need to go anywhere that's more than a bike ride away?

I only use my van one day a week (Saturday), the rest of the week I use my bike which I fill up every Monday morning and it lasts exactly 5 days with about 20 miles spare. Just my luck that this madness happened on the weekend.

Unless the Gov't was Centre-left Liberal, then the BBC, C4 etc. would take every opportunity to criticise whichever party was in power and push their own agenda, remember that 'The Guardian' is their spawning pool. ETA - that's not my opinion, it's in one of the BBC's internal reviews, criticising lack of spread of political views within newsgathering organisations and the BBC in particular.
