We had plod on our local news saying it was illegal to leave your car unattended with the engine running. I think they call it quitting

I put a piece of camping bed foam on my windscreen (dunno what it's called,but about 10mm thick), jump in van with windows open and blowers on full heat.
by the time i'm outof the estate, windscreen is clear - close windows, and five minutes later, cab is warm.

I was in Ireland five years ago and the Focus we hired had a heated windscreen.

Brilliant, though it does make you wonder how it took so long to get it to travel ten ffet from the back of the car to the front.

In early 70's I saw a Mini parked up in the local town that has all windows heated - including the sides. Always assumed it was some sort of test / evaluation vehicle.

Was it BMC's answer to all the water leaks. Dry out the condensation rather than fix the problem.

Yer I know some of the very late Range Rover Classics (soft dash ?) had heated front screens twenty odd years ago.

A very long time ago, there was an advert, I think, a cartoon car with a blanket over the top of it and a letterbox-sized hole cut in it, for the driver to see through. Wording was along the lines of ' ?Would you drive around like this?............obviously the answer was in the affirmative.

A lot of the drivers I see round here would drive like that and try to send a text message at the same time as lighting a ciggy

We don't even bother with hot water, just use cold water from the tap, never had a problem, been doing it for years, even though it's cold, it's always well above freezing anyway. Even with chipped screens, doesn't seem to bother it. Had one with a cracked (out of vision) windscreen, same thing, figured it was cracked already if it cracked more then it was goosed anyway, again not a problem, (well not until I rolled it, but that's another story !!)

Great on frosty mornings,start to defrost almost immediately. Not so good on interal condensation though. I've got a Transit camper van & find its better to wipe it. You get a lot of condensation in a camper when you sleep in it.

i use slightly warm water - do you think maybe matey was just using the kettle as its all they had?

anything slightly above cold tap temps works a treat

My 2004 Land Rover Disco 2 has a heated front screen.

Sad thing is only the passenger side works. The both side are fused separately, have checked fuses, but not had time to check feeds and earths to each side of the screen.
