French gas bottles

Just wondering if any of the guys living in France could shed any light on whether or not uk propane regs fit into french cylinders? My parents have a place in France and want to pick up a weed burner to take over.

I'm pretty certain they are different

For some reason most of Europe use different regulators

Just buy a French regulator from any French hardware shop and a jubilee clip.

Tried a photo but my storage is full, it's a left hand thread.

Cheers, it needs to be a 2.5 - 4 bar outlet. Not the usual 28/37mbar type. Not sure if they do those in a hardware shop and my parents can’t speak french very well. I’ll have to have a think!

No, they're not. And French police were stood by English plated cars in the supermarket car park this morning pouncing on them, and everybody to be fair. That many police and gendarmes she didn't even bother trying Lidl.

I thought the pressure was the same and the take off rate changed?

2.5 to 4 bar of gas pressure is one hell of a weed burner, more of a Vietnam style flame thrower.

2.5kg/hr take off rate is big but not obscene

Hang on, 37mbar, but all our boats are that and we have failsafe devices rated at 3kilos on cooker and hobs......per hour?

I think the French propane connections are the same as our old style butane regulators were if you happen to have one of those kicking about?

4bar is fairly normal for weed burners / shrink wrap guns / farriers forges etc

Nope, no confusion. It has a small injector and needs high pressure to get the flow. My torch has a max inlet pressure of 4bar. I’m using an adjustable reg that goes up to 6bar(max you can get from propane as that’s what the cylinder pressure is).

Also worth looking into the refillable bottles as the lpg pumps are a lot more common (every other garage) over there
If you are getting through enough to justify the outlay
