I am exactly the same with football. Which is why I employ the old fashioned but totally effective device we have on our TV called the Off Switch. Works every time.

It amazes me that after umpteen million pounds spent/ waisted on F1 and millions of man hours involved in dev/R&D , promotion etc that the main topic of conversation over the majority of this season is the " will he won't he sign " . Does it matter who actually guides the cars anymore ? When I see the cars line up on the grid in 2 by 2 order just like the animal species waiting for Noah to wave them aboard then just how much difference does a driver make ? A friend of mine who worked at Williams gave me some tickets to watch the B.G.P a few years ago. He made the comment that the guys at the back were just as quick as the ones at the front it was just the cars that made the difference. By the way ,does the F in F1 mean Formula or Farce? Don't forget it's only entertainment !

Really - do you think Merc only build one top spec car at any one weekend? Mr Hamilton is a racer, and a good one....

i watch a bit of it now and then .only the aggro bits . or a few racers dicing with each other and passing a few times otherwise not worth watching

If you don't like Formula 1, don't watch it. Why bother telling everyone why you don't like it? I don't like football yet I don't come on here moaning about football or what a waste of time it is.

Err...... I never said, inferred or implied, that I don't like it - I simply said, "I personally have a hard time understanding why anybody watches or follows it"

How much difference does a driver make ? A quick scan at the stats of overall race pace within the teams tells you that straight away - based on the assertion that both cars in the team have the potential to be as fast as ones other. Ric vs Norris Max bs checo Lewis vs Bottas etc. It’s far more than “raw speed” from the driver (whatever that is !!) it’s their ability to tune that car, work with the engineers, etc etc.

Always assuming that there is a level playing field within the team.

The cars are too far removed from normal road cars to make it meaningful now. (although you can say that about most motorsports now)

I am the same about American football...which is anything but "football"
F1 is not purely about the race but politics has gotten in the way. Personally I did not like the track in Holland. It was tailor made for Max and had no real like for like overtakes. This was proven by how long the same car that won the race took to pass Mazispin.

That said I respect the fact others found it entertaining and the drivers loved it.

Not aimed at the poster or anyone else just a reminder the rest of us like to watch and discuss F1.
I don't think the mods mind people saying they don't like it or even why they don't like it but we really have to stop making it look personal.

I knew F1 was going downhill I just didn't realise by how much. Surely that HAS to be a photoshop joke as nobody would be seen dressed like that .....except to a fancy dress party . I didn't realise he had "lucky legs" .

Hi @ukracer , not sure how you decided that, Zandvoort was last used for F1 prior to this year in 1985. MV was born in 1997, so I am confused as to how the circuit was built to be tailor made for him. Please can you explain .

Just suited Max driving style. Max was the only reason it is being used again. But hey a lot of people like it. Much better than the farce the week before.

So a circuit first used in the 50’s, last used in 85 was built to suit a man born in 97 was designed constructed and used last weekend just to suit one driver ?
If the circuit suited anyone it was Fernando with his recent experience of banked corners in Indy car.
