I would guess the critical thing with fork oil is that it retains viscosity with temperature as the control of the damping is the fluid passing through a small hole or holes. A change in viscosity changes the damping.To a non biker, what’s special about fork oil?
What exactly does it have to do that something such as ATF, thin engine or hydraulic oil can’t?
Other than that it lubricates the bushes, protects the seals and does not foam.
