not sure where this will live yet! probably not near a wall though as the top arm is well over 1m wide!
Mounted on the edge of a 800 bench would give clearance.not sure where this will live yet! probably not near a wall though as the top arm is well over 1m wide!
I was thinking much smallerMounted on the edge of a 800 bench would give clearance.
Center of your press needs to be half the handle span away from the wall.I was thinking much smaller
Takes me longer clearing the path than it usually gets used for.The throw of the top arm is not the issue, it's the handle you need to be wary of. The bottom of the handle sweeps around the whole area of the base, eating up valuable horizontal space. In an ideal world you would design that area so that it would be impossible to just pop something down "for a minute". A minute later you'll be launching it across the workshop! Easy to forget because the lowest point of the handle changes as the flypress is operated, plus what was once safely below the launch path of the handle might come into reach as you change tooling.
My current model is a Norton DB6. Made my own balls from steel spheres filled with molten lead.
But the most important thing is tooling. You can never have enough....

Tooling ! I'm drooling.
Having a tidy up is good..as you find more space for goodies
I'm sure others here, including myself would be interested to know what you might have.…………………………. I have a load of flypress tooling that I may sell one day when / if I am allowed to list it, or maybe the next £1.00 ebay offer, whatever comes first!
ok then u get first dibs! TBH i aint used it yet i have a hydralic press i use for the 4x4 bitsBe interested if you do decide to sell it.
Putting a forge together over the next few months, and I believe one would be ideal![]()
