Tried to find mine should be in tote tray goneI have lost more things since retiring than I lost in years of work.
If any of you find your missing knives can you have a look and see if the Secateurs that my Mum bought me as a birthday present years ago are in the same place please.

Just take care with knives I got professional opinion from a Barrister a few years ago as I have carried a swiss army knife for about 40 years, his opinion was just don't carry one.
I do have one in my tool box though, but it can still be a cause of issues.
But the Words "Has with them" may cause difficulty if it was in your car and you required a defence?
Remember Opinel's are a lock knife

These are quite good. I don't like knives that don't lock due to them possibly folding on your fingers. Unfortunately with the law and locking knives I am reluctant to carry one and these seem a good alternative.
I have the slightly bigger version but I am looking at this smaller one for the legal carry reasons- I have a habit of forgetting which pocket I put things in and don't want to end up on the wrong side for forgetting which pocket my knife is in.

A cautionary tale:
"A man was found with a Stanley knife by police on the first day of his new job. Aaron Cunningham, 20, pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article in a public place. Caernarfon Magistrates today gave him a 12-week jail term, suspended for 12 months.
The court heard that the defendant had been on a two-day works trial with a roofing company. But he had a row with his girlfriend on the phone and his employer later ended the trial and dropped him off at a bus stop after work to get home. He went to the pub and drank "five or six double gins", the court heard. Prosecutor Diane Williams said police later had a report of a drunken man in Bridge Street, Llangefni last November 24 at 6pm. Officers found it was the defendant and he was intoxicated. His speech was slurred and he was "almost incoherent". Police asked him for his mobile phone so they could help him get home. He took out the knife from his coat while he was searching or the phone. It had a locking mechanism and he was arrested.
The court heard that at the end of the shift the defendant had fetched his belongings but still had the work knife. He claimed it was a work tool he hadn't left behind. A probation officer who interviewed the defendant said he had been in "emotionally distressed at the time of the offence. He said there was concern that the situation could have been more serious but fortunately no-one was hurt with the knife. Eilian Williams, defending, said the knife had originally been in Cunningham's possession legitimately. But the magistrates chairman Julie Eddows said he had had a knife in a public place and been heavily intoxicated. However, she said the bench accepted he had been working on the day of the offence and is genuinely remorseful.
Cunningham, of Hibernia Terrace, Holyhead, must do 40 hours of unpaid work and take a 15 hours rehabilitation programme. He must also pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge."

I remember about 40 years ago there seemed to be a glut of knives that sprung the blade out from the front and then sprung it back in with a sliding top switch type of thing...my young nephews at the time used to walk around everywhere flicking the blade in and out, every kid had one

I arranged to meet some french friends on way to a holiday . They suggested the town square in a place called Laguiole a place I had never heard of. I got there early and decided to do some window shopping while I waited for them to arrive. I have always had an interest in knives and was blown away by the amount of shops dedicated to the knife trade.Every other shop was a knife emporium. Caused great laughter amongst my french mates as they had deliberately chosen that town for that reason.

I've usually got a Spyderco UK penknife clipped in a pocket (easy to open with one hand), a Victorinox Swiss Champ XLT on my belt, and a Victorinox Classic Inox on my keyring. All non-locking and sub 3" blades, and all come in handy.
The Spyderco's stainless blade doesn't hold an edge as well as a high carbon steel blade, but a quick tickle on a stone brings it back.

spring assisted as far as I know are not legal as an every day carry now , classed as assisted opening , gravity knives and butterfly knives are out too , it was that every day carry knives were required to be opened with two hands and be non locking ,,, I think thats changed too and they allow thumb studs and thumb holes ,,,
its a mine field , long and the short of it is unless you really can justify it dont carry anything more than an old fashioned pen knife , even then it has to be non locking and have a blade under 3 inches ,, I have a rescue knife in each of my work jacket pockets , but they are round tipped and on a tether ,,

This is the best stanley blade type knife I have had. Got it from a friend 5 or 6 years ago.
Press button and flip it open, press button and it will drop shut if held blade upwards, just make sure your fingers are not in the way.
Also extremely handy with the bits, I am forever using it to undo torx/allen/philips screws etc.
