A little off topic maybe but I do a bit of green laning on the bike and carry an assortment of tools n stuff in my backpack including a folding pruning saw for clearing a passage through fallen branches etc, the blade is about 8" long with well spaced and very sharp teeth and quite pointed at the tip and locks in both the closed and open position, rarely gets used maybe once or twice a year. would this be considered a bladed weapon or something I could be prosecuted for?

Two things
I personally would not cut anything as if we play devils advocate here you have cut Farmer Freds tree, its not yours and you have no legal right to cut it. It may be blocking your route but cutting it is not the answer, this would be a rights of way complaint to council etc
The bladed article, well I took advice from a very well known barrister who advised me not to carry anything that could be construed as a weapon or bladed article, but if I needed to I should be ok with it in a tool box in the boot etc, but its all down to the copper on the day and the legal team who defend you, I know this may seem over the top but its how it is at this moment it time.
I have a swiss army multi tool in my work bag. I walk from the house to my car in the street, drive to work and the bag is in work or my car at all times. For the previous 10 years it was on my belt but I just don't need the potential hassle.
The choice obviously is yours

I seem to remember some off road chap cutting a large fallen tree as it was in his way, I think from memory he was prosecuted as it wasn't his to cut and his remedy wasn't the correct legal one. I will see if I can find it.
