Hi all, I haven't disappeared, or welded myself to the car
I did as much practise as I could with the limited metal available and jumped back in! Here's how this side ended up (I did actually smooth the underside welds a bit more after this):
I know the experienced among you are probably cringing at some of it but as a first job, I'm happy it's solid. I do think I might come back and redo it at some point. I feel a lot better acquainted with the welder now and hopefully that will show a bit when I tackle the other side this week.
I did have to fill a couple of holes with weld but as I say, for a first attempt at welding I'm happy enough.
I've used some of this over it:
I could do with some guidance on what sort of filler to put over it. I need to slightly reshape a small part of the sill as the metal did warp a little. I'm not sure if I should just use regular filler over the welds or some fibreglass reinforced stuff and then maybe regular filler over it? Obviously I want it to go on as thinly as possible...
