WB56 rods - I know nothing about them but did you check which polarity they require?

I will be out there today so will check them bill, the arc on that rod in particular was very weird, what I may do is post a pic of the label up and folks can have a bit of a search on what they are....

so after a close look at the packet with me glasses on it turns out they are 7016 lo hydrogen rods, just wondering why the weird arc characteristics and the glazed over tip whilst welding, maybe not enough amps but I was running at 80....

Should be DC + then, I'm assuming that's what you already have the machine on?
I've used 7018 which has iron powder in so certainly isn't the same (still low-hy) and they do have a very different arc which takes some getting used to and the rod does burn back inside the flux. To restart you have to either tap the end off to reveal rod or be brutal against the workpiece to achieve the same effect.
The brand I've been using does seem to like a fair few more amps than the equivalent size in 6013. I've also found the 2.5mm ones to be utterly awful compared with 3.2 which I mainly use, but I'm on AC not with a fancy inverter!
