What sort of thickness’ would that stick together? I’m only doing classic car body work for nowYoull get roughly 150 amps from a 13 amp plug, even if what you buyrequires a 16amp supply, thats only if your going to use it full tilt. My brother uses a fly lead to use my old 16amp machine with 16 amp plug from a 13 amp socket
I don’t really want a multi machine it just seems to be a lot of the inverter welders come as a multi function the reason for the inverter is it looks to be where the technology is going and setup is easier / more beginner friendlycan i ask why you want a multi weld machine if it has that many uses its going to be cheap unless you pay enough for it it wont be good enough
sips on here dont get a good review on them as many machines needed adapting to make them better
we also have a welder supplier at the top of the page

Spot on, will save this to my notes for referenceRoughly 30 amps per mil. So 150 amps would do 5 mil at a push, for a car 30 or 40 amps will be fine
I really recommend the Kemppi minarcmig Evo 200. One just sold on eBay for £400. Think I paid £300 for mine. Worth keeping an eye out for a few days see if one comes up, or have a look on the usual sites. How soon do you need a welder?I don’t have tons but this is from when I first picked it up, I am planning to 2.8 swap it with an engine from an E36 (already bought). The body is tatty but underneath is good and not rotten! I have seen your stuff and it was actually a big influence in doing this myself, I’ve wanted to learn this skill for ages and I’m now finally in a position to do it

I am not in an immediate rush as I still need to remove the engine from the E30. I can wait around for the right welder but like it in time for summer so I can make the most of the long eveningsI really recommend the Kemppi minarcmig Evo 200. One just sold on eBay for £400. Not all SIPs are rubbish, it's just the very low-end ones that sometimes need fettling.sips on here dont get a good review on them as many machines needed adapting to make them better

There is also a small cash back available on your first SGS bottle of gas, through this forum too
Ive never used one but the reviews are good and 5 year warrenty!
Sips, draper, new clarkes etc are just generic far east stuff…..most better stuff will be brands you’re not familiar with, as it’s all new to you.
Really appreciate your help on this one and thank you for the forum link, I haven’t used forums for ages and trying to get back in the swing of it all
Some really good reviews on those patons! Seems like the Oxford is also a well liked unit, I see people mentioning the Lincoln Bester but no saying good/bad or indifferent
I have one of these though the 200 model, It’s a very well built machine and I’m happy with it.Pulsed looks really good for thin stuff! Are Paton a well regarded brand? I’ve not heard of them before but will do some research.

I was paranoid over winter and took my inverter blackline mig into the house incase condensation ******** it up. My workshop is a shipping container so there is a good chance of condensation in it.the oxford I use has lived in a damp barn for a couple of years ,,, when Ive finished i put a squirt of acf on the wire till next time and off it goes ,,,, I dont know if an inverter machine would hack those conditions ,, nope no digital display , but then it wont go wrong either ,,, if your not using it all day every day low tech is grand , it takes a few seconds to tweak a machine your eyes and ears will tell you whats working.
During last winter I wasn’t using mine much, I put a plastic tarp over the welding trolley with a couple of these beside the welder, everything was good and no rust on the wire spool, surprising just how much water these take from the air, they’re only 99p so why not for peace of mind.I was paranoid over winter and took my inverter blackline mig into the house incase condensation ******** it up.
