First come first served ? Car sales

I listed my motorcycle on Ebay late last night. I had one daft question last night. This morning I had a sensible enquiry and a request for a video walk round. I provided those and got an offer £500 below asking price. Told reluctantly no and shortly thereafter had a deposit sent to my bank. Let's hope the rest of the transaction goes as well!

If you need the money its very easy to get sucked in with these boys.
Offering £2000 for a £4500 is an insult. If he had of offered £3500 and tried to meet you around £4000 was reasonable but to offer £2000 he needed told where to go.
If someone offers me stupid money, I take the keys and lock the car. Say you cant afford this car, you better look for a different one and walk off.

I’d got the measure of him as soon as he quoted bodyshops and his price guide. Told him it was the type of car that would go to someone who can do their own paint, and it did. Lads bought it for a surprise 30th present for his girlfriend, I hope they both get lots of enjoyment out of it

I went over to Antwerp with a trailer to collect, "sight unseen", a BMW 600. When I got there the seller apologised profusely saying somebody who had viewed a week or so earlier had sent him a cheque for the full amount. I was upset but accepted the rules of first person to pay wins. Spent the rest of the day with the seller who showed me around his private museum of cars he's been collecting for probably 50 years

Many, many, years ago (1980's) I advertise my Honda C90 for £80. Chap turned up with helmet and offered me £40 to take it away there and then. I refused and his reply was "how am I going to get home ? " ! I pointed out that he had £40 in cash so more than enough to pay for bus fare. Little while later another person turned up and gave me the full asking price. To celebrate I went out to get a Chinese and saw the first bloke walking a couple of miles away

I admit to trying it on a bit when buying second hand cars but if I am told no it's 'thanks for your time' and I leave them to get on with it. No way would I start abusing someone because they didn't like my offer.

I truly dread selling cars. These days there seems to be an increasing culture of people either texting insulting offers, or "whats your lowest/best price". Its only on the very rare occasion that someone will make contact with genuine enquiring questions before either making arrangements to view or politely declining.

I've even had people with sob stories about their poor incomes, sick mothers, pregnant wives, some people will try anything

i sold a car last year put it up for 550 a 13 year old ford with 120.000 on the clock done a bit of poking around ebay sold and listing on auto trader but did have 9 months mot

put on facebook the amount of messages was amasing with in only a few hours i had 5 people wanting to view 1 was booked in for 9.30 kicked tyre said was going to need lots of work and 350 me 500 mate or i have other people waiting he left
2nd was around at 11am again it needs lots of work (car dealer)me it 13 years old 9 months mot and near full service history for it age it worth the 500 at the lowest im taking
him offered 450 me as said 500 and ive now got 7 people wanting to look at it

he bought it for the 500 once the deal was done he seamed a nice guy said he buys cheap car with good history touch them as he does car spraying and put it up for 900 after using it for a few weeks

If I'm selling something & somebody calls asking to keep it for them I tell them to send me a deposit on paypal & if it doesn't match the description upon viewing they get their deposit back. That always weeds out the time wasters.

Last oil cooled welder I sold I had dozens of calls about it. The first guy said he was coming to view it, traveling about 90 miles. After him I had a lot more local calls wanting the welder, I told them I had somebody coming to see it but if he didn't turn up I would call them back.

I called the first guy back to confirm he was definitely coming & he said I'll be there in 2 hours, if not you can sell away to the next man.

Less than 2 hours later the guy turned up & took the welder, as well as a vice I was selling.

Hmmm.... I dunno. Did he have your contact details? If I was selling something and knew someone was coming a distance (hey - I've done this when I know someone is coming from the next village!) I would contact them and let them know it had sold.

youve had 2 opertunites to buy it at a resonable price and in end ive told you what its worth
youve wasted my time with your offers yet arrogant in still thinking youve still got first refusal
other parties are interested so put up sold on advert

now if they say it openly further gets added

now think yourself lucky that i dont put up the video of you making the 2 insulting offers for the item
as this would show how much you was being greedy with your offers

if your disapointed youve only got yourself to blame not others

then id have gone to bed chuckerling away about it or being so disgusted by there insult

and as ive done it myself with a few selling items its my own fault if the item gets sold or if someone beats me in buying the item
