Having collected around 5 tonnes of smaller than we tend to bother with softwood lengths (under 5" diameter) over the last few months and with several more more stacked ready to collect I was keen on finding a quicker (and easier on my back) way of blocking the lengths up. A logging saw bench has been on the cards for some time but haven't yet acquired all the parts nor have the time at the moment anyway so quick and dirty was the order of the day. A quick youtube search threw up plenty of good ideas and after a few hours watching videos and a few more messing with bits and pieces / scrap I cobbled this together...
It's been worth it just for having the sawdust neatly bagged up instead of thrown all over the place and as a bonus it actually gravity feeds and burns surprisingly well in the rocket stove despite it being green and feeling very damp - next on the to do list will be a bigger feed hopper.
Unfortunately I can already sense the H&S Nazis circling
