They only operated on impact and had to be re-set before the car would start againI'm wondering about this. Never encountered it for myself, but I recall being told that old Fords had a crash sensor which was basically a tube with a ball bearing inside, under extreme deceleration the ball bearing would shoot forward and cut power to the fuel pump.
Perhaps find out where it is and bypass it?
Do modern cars even have that any more?
