Like many on here id say it has to be the smell of an old style steam train. even though im too young to have rode on them in their hayday, i do love going to see them when im holidaying in Devon. They have a great little depot at Buckfastleigh where you can practically wander around on your own some days. I have traipsed in and out of the engineering repair sheds, the steam up sheds, everywhere. the trick is to look like you know where your going, clipboards are optional these days though

The smell of petrol that's gone off. It's a horrible smell like white spirit, but is generally accompanied by the fun of getting something going that hasn't run for years. When you do get it going you can play with it around the yard to see what else is wrong with it. Like getting a new toy as a child - that 20 minute bit between new and boring.

Lucky me i found a perfume that mixes quite nicely with grease, cutting oil and welding fumes... i'll name it "eau de welder"

He he he, It's Friday, I am bored (again) and I've been fishing for a fight already.
Good way to end the week.

Yesterday, I was obliged to spend FOUR BLOODY HOURS listening to a couple of Yanks explaining how the organisation was to be organised and how the organisation of the organisation was to be organised, so please Sparky, have pity on me. A little non-PC frivolity on a Friday morning is just enough to tide me over until going home time.

Talking of engineering smells, real ones, I did my apprenticeship in a company that had workshops going back to the twenties, and you can't imitate the smell of an old fashioned wood-block floor with fifty years or more of stuff soaked into it. Add an essence of that smell you get when there's blue chips flying about and it's just about right. Why can Este Lauder make a pong like that, insteady of the suffocating stinks they do offer the ladies. Oh, sorry, non-PC again.
I'm off to a dynamometer cell for a breath of oily air now.

Had my share too yesterday! Meeting with the staff for our division...(boring!!)
When some of our assembly-line female workers brought up the subject male-female discrimination i really got fed up with the whole thing!
Baah! i prefer to work with blokes all day!!! much less complicated!!!!!

ps: yeah! those flower perfumes are the worst!!!
