Sounds like a lot of "free" offers, they want the card details but don't charge you for the first 3 months, but hope you have forgotten to cancel it so they can then take a "legal" payment which you only find out about when you get your next statement .

I took out a 3 months free subscription to a magazine, when the 3rd issue arrived I immediately cancelled it but they had already taken the money the same day, didn't take me long to recover it though

I've ound out why some people can't understand me....apparently me great,great grandfather on me old fella's side was scottish and he married a welsh bird and moved to liverpool.

DanielW, they will require your cc details, but, remember to cancel before the expire day, and if i remember right you do it by email, all of these sites are on this band wagon. See what the site offers, ie, access to bmd is free anyway, a lot of census sites are free, in fact you can buy the cd`s for census if you want, so what i`m saying is when you free join see what you can access if you were a fully paid member, because you may have to join another site at £££ to access their info, ie, war details, directory`s, cemetery index`s, wills records, the list just grows, find your county record office and join (free, no cc ) a lot of what you will be looking for is in them, one record membership card gets you into all the offices around the country

Oh dear this getting a bit scary this....no word of a lie.

My great,great grandfather was living in a street (1881)in liverpool that is the next street to where I'm living now.

I've checked the address and looked up the street and house that used to be there and its directly in line with this bungalow.
Thats pretty scary in my books.

Since starting this thread I have gone back five generations and on the sixth generation now.

the fourth grandparent female seem to dissapear between 1841 and 1851 but I located her on the census as being in a lunatic asylum,I found this census with a fair amount females and I thought something wrong here is it a jail with inmates? but no its an asylum,further down the years she seemed to dissapear again only to crop up as a boarder in a houshold down southmshe never went back to her spouse or children I can only presume she didn't want to return? no evidence as to why she went into asylum.

My Missus who is American chased her side earler this year...her,s went back to a village in sussex and with a maiden name of Danforth found her blood line was one of the founders of a settlement of a town in Ohio USA...V interesting. She Also done mine and got back 3 generations untill she found my great great grandmother on my fathers side had 4 children in one birth,...put one down the sewers...rolled on one drunk in bed and killed it and put the 3rd in the wardrobe with one making it to live. Ater starting it going the missus starting getting snippits then asked questions around the family that ive never asked in 54 years...only because prior its never bothered me to question anyone as apart from whats in my skin it cant change the now nor the future.

Laughs reminds me of being back at school when the lad sitting next to you is copying your work.

I've gone back six generations and when I got a few minutes spare time I recheck some facts on some of the past rellies.
Anyway it seems that I have only been on the site one month and already 5 people have copied all my ancestory history tree,they being having the same rellies on their side like.

Infuriating that,I know I should have had it hidden from public eyes but I forgot to do that when I started out.
