The Argentinians would have to fight the South Africans and Irish that live thereAnd then i often think how would we feel if Argentina had claim to the Isle of Man![]()
That would be tragic indeed ,,, the UK may not be as lucky next time , it was very nearly a tragedy last time.I get a daily e-mail news from Argentina....and a week doesn't go by that they are
rumbling about how they want "another go at it".
Oiy !
Yes, I am on the sidelines, and have no dog in this. That would be tragic indeed ,,, the UK may not be as lucky next time , it was very nearly a tragedy last time.
But as they say , its all history now.
I was there ,,, and really wouldnt want to repeat the experience , and not for the obvious reasons either ,,, I will add no more than that.Yes, I am on the sidelines, and have no dog in this.
But I keep seeing references to "The Malvinas" all the time.
Please refer to post #24Well then they’d best hurry up and form another 3rd rate military junta that will start a pointless and unwinnable war with a country much more invested in being there than they are, hadn’t they……
I’m not sure anyone that was there the first time round could possibly want that again to be fair
If i am correct Argentina has a hard right wing Government right now (Javier Milei) they will be using the "island" as a political prize to the faithful voters...Pretty much like the last dictator did when he was falling from favour, but he came unstuckYes, I am on the sidelines, and have no dog in this.

Bit of an odd comment "on the sidelines' when your first post in this thread specifically mentioned Argentina . Until then nobody had said any thing about the Agentines spurious claim. I don't know what that's called in the States but in the UK it's called stirring it.Yes, I am on the sidelines, and have no dog in this.

Maybe, but he is more Libertarian...or so they say.If i am correct Argentina has a hard right wing Government right now (Javier Milei) they will be using the "island" as a political prize to the faithful voters...Pretty much like the last dictator did when he was falling from favour, but he came unstuck![]()

Anyway Fred as a way of turning the heat down under the pan of the South AtlanticMaybe, but he is more Libertarian...or so they say.
Always need a boogey man to pull out when needed.
Ok,what do I do with the file?Ask for it as a file, they will have itView attachment 431684
Given how their military is currently faring they would be foolish to attempt anything - ours is much smaller than in 82 but by most measures is leagues ahead of the Argentine force - for starters the raf have a squadron of typhoons based on the islands which weren’t available in 82, and the Argentine fleet is in a shocking state…If i am correct Argentina has a hard right wing Government right now (Javier Milei) they will be using the "island" as a political prize to the faithful voters...Pretty much like the last dictator did when he was falling from favour, but he came unstuck![]()
I suspect that whilst the argies may have moved beyond teenage conscripts, their equipment hasn’t really. Their aircraft are by and large outdated and would likely be smoking wrecks before they even got a visual on the falklands. Their navy isn’t much better and we learnt some serious lessons last time about fleet defence.I was there ,,, and really wouldnt want to repeat the experience , and not for the obvious reasons either ,,, I will add no more than that.
How are you proposing to cut out the sign?Ok,what do I do with the file?

I’d put reasonable money on them not even hitting the beach if they tried it again
