That sounds like boyles law at work tbh. I've had new bike tyres explode and even buckle the wheels inside a hot car. Likewise the glue on guitars turn liquid and the bridge slide up the top lol. The tyres will have a maximum pressure and temperature, inside a vehicle on the hottest day of the year it's entirely possible this was exceeded.The spare tyre in the back of my Iveco Daily exploded while unattended. Before this, it had looked fine.
The split was about 8 inches in length with a strip of tyre about 1 1/2 inches wide.
I’m just glad it went while in the van and not on the motorway while on the van.
The tyre wasn’t old but it had been the hottest day we’ve had this year.
