I have a Facebook account because it was getting to the point where you don't see decent stuff for sale and some smaller businesses only list on there. I don't have any friends and don't do any updates.
I'm looking for some advice on how everyone gets the best from it.
The bit I struggle with is why items I've never seen before suddenly appear even though they were listed days before?
I've bought a couple of items from a Snap On tools group and had no issues, paid by Paypal and the items turned up fine.
There seems to be loads of stuff still listed that has been sold, surely these people must get fed up people messaging them when they could just mark it as sold?
You get some messers on Ebay and Gumtree but they can get away with it because it's faceless. Facebook marketplace is different because often they people list where they are and have a picture of themselves and you can see who they are friends with. My last two experiences just show that some people just don't care what people think.
I saw a long Snap On ratchet screwdriver, looked good and was cheap. I messaged the guy and said I would have it and when could I arrange collection. He was away for the weekend and would message on Monday. Contacted him Monday and he said he sold it to his mate on Sunday. When I mentioned he told me he was away for the weekend he said his mate came round at 2200 Sunday.
Yesterday a non running forklift appeared about 35 mins away, messaged the guy and he said I could come and have a look after 1730. Exchanged a few messages and I texted him at 16:50 saying I was on the way. I then texted him saying I was close to get some directions. Followed the direction and was nearly there when I saw a guy waiting in car. Pulled up thinking maybe it was him, and the guy wound down his window and asked if I was Chris as he come to look at a forklift. I immediately smelt a rat and rang the guy, he said another guy had turned up and bought as it was first come first served. He insinuated I made up the bit about bumping into another buyer yet this place was in the middle of nowhere so the other guy could not have been there by accident and had to have been given the postcode because English wasn't his first language. I was very calm and pointed he never mentioned multiple people were coming or that it was first come first served, I had been available all day and could been sat there at 1630 if needed. He even had the front to say he didn't know I was coming and started spill more tosh that didn't stack up.
So what's the scoop, is this people realising they've priced something too low or just people who have no moral code. If my face was all over Facebook I couldn't treat people like that.
