Skip the trampolines. No one wants them.
Skip all the "may come in handy" carp. It won't.
Skip the collection of wooden sticks and pieces of MDF.
When you sweep the floor, any nuts, bolts and washers all go in the bin. I used to mess about picking them out of the dust and carp. Then what? Couldn't be bothered to sort them so, in the bin.

Make it a project you do finish.

Only if you let them. It's a functional item. As long as the weld is sound, it doesn't matter if it looks pretty. Get it fitted.

I am a sod for buying stuff on a whim.

Join the club. Plus, if I buy something I like, I'm also a sod for buying extra of it. I like to have 3 of things. A quirk. It doesn't stop you from clearing out sh*t you don't need & organising your storage space as best as possible though.

Simply remember that when it's gone, it's gone. You can't fanny around debating over it at that point; Your decision is made & done. Seriously, you will feel so much better about it.

I've stopped buying stuff from lidl. I don't need most of it. I find Parkside battery tools quite 'meh' tbh. Even their corded angle grinders aren't that great now as they've made it impossible to operate them with one hand!! That's stopped a lot of my clutter acquisition.

On a serious note…is the clutter, hording etc a symptom of a problem elsewhere, or the actual problem. I say this as some one Ive known most of my life, probably 60 years, used to live in a high old terraced house, junk, collections, man and woman treasure everywhere, piles on top of piles. Him and his wife and kids just seemed to coexist in the house. Anyway kids moved out, he retired, decision to down size to a 2 bed bungalow (I joked gods waiting room). They spent an an few hours each getting what was important, and skipped the lot. The bungalow is very tidy after 5 years. The pressures of everyday life seemed to cause the apathy and hence clutter!

Find a bucket - anything ferrous - like springs you are never going to use - into it.
Find another - anything brass that might come in handy, but won't - into it.
A third - anything aluminium that you are never going to need - chuck it. That bust power steering pump, water pump, cylinder head - if there's enough metal in it to be worth some time breaking it up and separating, then crack on - if not, into the "mixed" bucket.
Old motors, transformers, car batteries . . .

Every 6 mths, a year, however long it takes to fill them, off to a local scrap metal man, with ID, probably V5 of the vehicle you go in, and bank details. Weigh 'em in - by the time you are back home with the buckets, money will be in your account if they are anything like the place I go - takes me 10mins to get home reasonably early on a saturday. I go early saturday as I'm out of the way of their main commerical business customers.

Anything you really aren't going to need, use or sell - bin or scrap. Said it before, if it's worth something to someone, bung it on ebay, or a local auction house. If it needs money to fix it - bin, ebay or auction, let someone else do it - the extra 50p you might make doesn't pay for your time doing something you want to do.

Spend your time doing stuff you like - which might indeed be making a cowl in the dry room you have created (although for me, a few quid for one, rather than a half-day of metal bashing, wire, electricity etc makes buying one a no-brainer).

Yep, hard letting go of stuff you have kept - but a week later, when you can't see it, muck like you didn't for the previous decade 'cos of all the other junk in-front of it, you won't miss it.

Been there, done it, will do it again.

Feels like I'm dwelling on the negatives all the time.

I was doing that but when I get a good day i try to remember that day. We had a couple of sunny days. I got some thing done one one of them. The other i had to do other things. But they both felt great.

Another example, half a plan to lay some carpet tiles today, can't even find the two packs of Stanley blades I've seen but have moved/can't remember where.

I have had a bad week or so with my X1C showing an abnormal hot endfan. I have now changed almost all of the electronics and its still not fixed. I needed to print about 6 different items to keep going forward but Chinese new year has caused chaos. I am mega frustrated but less feeling depressed strangely.

I do actually. BUT I already have 5 bed slinged and cant bring myself to use them. I dont/cant sell stuff i print so not really justifiable.

I simply cant believe how hard and awkward they are to work on and diagnose. Its the encypted logfiles that are most annoying.

I present a bag of trampoline springs and the pole clips that go with them. Citric acid bathed, rinsed and given a light coat of zinc something. Tip?

Ohh.. you never know when you'll need a hefty spring.
I'd keep them.
In a labelled box.
Tip: To get rid of unwanted trampolines, leave them untethered in the next gale.
They end up in the oddest places...

Label the box "early mini throttle return springs"
ISTR they broke a lot because of their proximity to the exhaust.
