I would have thought that falls under permitted development. On looking at it the only thing of concern would be the 50% of the garden rule.

A very nice workspace but be careful when welding in there as that white reflective surface will play havoc with reflected arc. Worst case of arc-eye I ever had was welding in someones garage made of white lightweight blocks. Caught me out and have always been very wary since.

Oh really!? I’ll keep an eye on it, for lack of a better phrase.

I’ve done a fair bit so far, all TIG, welding table and quite a few motorsport sump extensions for people and it’s been ok.

This is all Matt white, so not sure if it’s lessened the problem? Can you remember what the blocks were like?

Can't remember which manufacturer make them but they were a naturally white block. Not glossy really but reflected the arc too well.

I just got them off ebay, looked for the cheapest ones I could.

Have a search around for "600mm surface mount panel", they're about £7 each.

Having read the whole thread , thanks very much .

I just did a sq/ mtr conversion of my proposed 16 x 32 foot fibreglass factory made panel construct & found it's a 48 sq mtr external foot print . Re hatched the dimensions to 16 x 20 foot and it's just under the 30 sq mtrs mentioned .. Will spend some time tomorrow checking local planning regs to see if this is Ok here in south wales or if I have to have the smaller cheaper 16 x 20 jobby
