Could someone explain what Greta is doing that is so wrong. Surely she is trying to 'save the planet' by making us aware that all is not well with the way we are slowly screwing where we all live. We might not like her methods but at least she is having a go. I have now retired to my Anderson Shelter at the end of the garden.

What little I've seen of GT (she irritates me on sight) is not really her "message" - it's the OTT, foot-stamping, spoiled brat ranting & entitled way the odious child goes about it.
It seems all pouty stroppy "you barstewards have all ruined it for me" and the way she pontificate and lectures to adults just grinds my gears & boils my p**** (also why I avoid anything about her). I may be old-fashioned but I'd have never let a child of mine speak to people like this prima donna drama queen.

The forum where she first came to prominence was the annual meeting of world leaders to spout hot air and do sod all apart from some sound bites to make it look like they have done something about our kids future. I think that her frustration was justifiable, and continues to be.

Wouldn't it be great if people vented their anger at their leaders instead of the person stating the truth.

I don't think its up to a teenager to solve the issues, however I don't think that she should be criticised for pointing out the obvious such as reducing use of fossil fuels.

I cannot stand politicians either. They ate Parasites feathering their own nests and have hides like Rhino's.
Greta can wail and wring her hands at them till the cows come home... it'll male no difference whatsoever.
They'll only speak out in directions that are expedient for their own well being.

I don't bother wasting my time watching/listening to Greta or Politico's - as I know the damage is done, just as I know that no political initiatives make actual change a genuine priority & goal.

It's an irritant I'm better off avoiding.

Genuine question and just as a matter of interest, as I've no intention [nor could I afford] of buying a pure EV.

How do drivers cope driving an EV in really adverse weather/road conditions - I'm talking ice and/or deep[ish] snow? I'd imagine the instant throttle response and torque might defeat the skills of many drivers, having seen some get stuck in relatively benign conditions. They seem to have no idea, whether in a manual or autobox vehicle, with no 'feel' for what the driven wheels are doing....floor the throttle to get it moving seems to be the default for many. Do all the new EVs have a selectable 'puter setting to take care of things?

My idle curiosity was sparked when I woke up to snow falling this morning. Still is, but it's wet stuff so not lying too much, but frosts of down to -8 are forecast over the rest of the week.

Haven't read the rest of the thread so there might be responses saying the same thing - but it's generally the opposite, you have smooth, linear, predictable torque, far less driveline shunt, no clutch engagement to worry about at low speeds, etc.
The main issue is most of them come on eco tyres with very little in the way or sipes or block movement so the tyres really suffer in cold weathers.

So was I but I didn't have the courage to voice my thoughts. As for those adults who ask what is her solution how is a nipper with bottle enough to stir the pot going to have the answer to it all. It's seems like great fun to take the P*** out of her but these same people haven't come up with the solution .

That's not new. Working on a project back in 1991 while at Uni involving Rover, and plenty on the engine was plastic back then. I've been abusing one of their engines in a Caterham since 2001 and nothing plastic has broke . . . the aluminium radiator however . . .

But of course they use plastic as its cheaper - faster, easier, cheaper to make - why would they not?

Is todays car part plastic actually recyclable? My recycling bin says not to put hard black plastic in it, which indicates they can't use the stuff....yet here they are making new 'green' cars out of masses of hard black plastic.....

I think just because it’s not recyclable by your household recycling scheme doesn’t mean car plastics can’t be reused. Councils go for the easy win stuff so will concentrate (probably quite rightly) on common household stuffs.

One thing I wish they (household recycling) would do is soft plastics - supermarkets now take them and we take quite a few bags every month, saving about half our normal black bin space!!
