Evolution Rage 2 feedback

Thinking about getting this saw ahead of starting my welding bench build.

Does anyone have any feedback on it especially in regards to accuracy and sqaureness of cut?

I have the rage 4 as its smaller cheaper and more compact
It can cut square but needs setting up with a square cant rely on the markings
But once cut there is no burr and the finish is perfect

I've got a Rage 3S & it does the job, But not 100% accurate. So best to check with a square. For the price you can't grumble!

Maybe I’m not the best person to comment but I bought one of those saws from screwfix to cut box section for a quick cage job for a warehouse. The first one I took back because it wasn’t up to the job and the thing was more noise than cut so they swapped it. When I took the replacement back and told them it was equally as crap they asked what I was cutting. Then they told me the machine was more happy encountering nails in wood rather than being given grief with box section. I got my money back.
Some people may find them ok but it really wasn’t up to it for me

Brought a Rage 2 via Amazon and as already stated not the most accurate of cuts but it's dealt with everything I've thrown at it no problem.
Box, 25mm solid round bar, & flat.
I was surprised how heavy it is which in my opinion is a good thing.

Had one for a few years, for the price point you can't beat it. As per others, you may have to fine tune it a bit and watch how you hold the pieces the kick back can be brutal. Also wear a full face guard the chips can hit you in the face or anywhere for that matter. Spares are easily available and for basic fab/welding where a mm here or there can be compensated for in weld gaps it's fit for purpose and i enjoyed mine whilst i had it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd prefer a bandsaw but can't seem to find anything sub £200. I could stretch to a bare Makita 18v within budget but don't seem to see stands for them in the UK.

Picture shows it on the bigger of Makitas 2 portable bandsaws and I thought they may do the same for the smaller one but I can't find anything for either of the 2 saws in the UK.

No seems not. Do wonder of that and the portable bandsaw would be better in the long term as I can buy them separately as money becomes available. Dunno how accurate they are freehand though

no probs with mine,if you cut stuff the way they show you in the manual it works fine,again check with a square.

Thinking I may spend the extra and get the Evolution raptor as it looks a better tool with its cast base and steel specific blade.

You'll need to find your own poaching errr, fishing spots.
I understand some people DO still go poaching , no-one I know, naturally.

@Pete@83 I've got one myself. But since the cold saw purchase it's seen very little if any real use. For that sort of money could be worth looking for a used cold saw or bandsaw or eBay.

I've looked in eBay but don't really know enough about these kinda saws to know what to go for and what not to.

It all depends what you're after @Pete@83 for me accuracy was priority. I'm limited to 65mm, 70mm at a push box on the cold saw but it's accurate and fast.

Accuracy is most portant for me. I plan to mainly use 25mm through to 50mm box section for projects. As I get more confident I might have a go a chunkier section for dining table legs but that's a way way off.

Budget is £200 although I can stretch to £300 at the expense of delaying buying all the steel I had planned to.
