Evolution Rage 2 feedback

Over 25 and 50mm a little out on accuracy isn't going to be a massive issue. Don't get me wrong they aren't bad. But i would be looking at some of the set ups people have on here, and see what you can find used.

If budget wasn't an option I would choose a cold saw or decent bandsaw

I had the Evo raptor and sold it on very quickly.
Horrible noisy thing that spits hot chips everywhere.
Not very accurate either and it’s not designed to cut mitres in box.

£85 outside your budget but well worth it. Very accurate and cuts mitres in box really cleanly.

Don’t bother with table attachment though, it’s hopeless.

I’ve had the rage 2 for 6 months and I think it is ok if your not going to use it very often but it isn’t very accurate and the blade regularly curves out when doing thicked walled box section

I would buy a Breyer quality one like the makita or dewalt metal chopsaw

Bought a rage many moons ago when it was suppose to be the dogs doo daas
Waste of money IMHO,
Dont own one,but i've had the pleasure of using one of those Stakesys, nice tool i must admit

Yes, it’s the same saw rebranded Starett.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another. The blade lasts well too.

I have the Rage s3 and cant fault it. I get clean accurate cuts on everything I cut with it. Sails through box section. Secret is light steady pressure and let it do its own thing. Rushing it just knackers the blades and gives inaccurate cuts. Its noisy (I wear ear defenders) and it spits out tons or hot chips. I have the magnets "sweeper" stick the sell for clean up and have that stood out the outlet to catch a lot of the chips and the pick them up afterwards. It was cheap, its not for high volume and I would love a proper cold saw but I dont have the space or the frequency of use to own one so the Rage does the job just fine.

I have am early Rage2, serial no in the 30 ish.
Then the base was cast and rigid. Heard that they later changed to pressed steel that was bending during use. Not sure if it's still the same. The Rage blades aren't really made for cutting steel rather an all round blade so it is better to change the blade into their steel series or other brand. I currently have a Hitachi blade in mine and it cuts so much better.
As the others have said the angle accuracy aint what you expect.
Cutting 45° needs additional clamping or the workpiece will slide slightly.
Once you learn it's shortcomings and how to compensate for it it is quite a useful saw.

When cutting aluminum I use my Makita saw though, much faster to get to final result.

I have two Rage 2 chop saws, blades went off in no time, noisy scary things. now got a a 6x4 bandsaw and a rapidor which cost less together than one of the chop saws and are much more civilised to use.

Part no should be 77030004 (assuming its would be the same in UK)
The shop where I got it use their own number but its a 355 x 25,4 66T blade
