Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Anyone manage to escape to the workshop over the period and what were you up to? I was out there Christmas day starting on making a motorbike luggage rack. Thread and pic's to follow in a week or so when it's finished.

I've been in my garage every day really - as much as I can! Clearing out one garage and removing shelves etc for a planned car lift installation.
It's difficult to keep motivated but a last push tomorrow should see all the stuff moved out to my other garage.

Yes - Christmas morning - put a13 amp feed into the "ceiling" solely for the battery conditioning unit for my motorbike - I was fed up with tripping over the feed running along the floor - the unit is now fixed above the bike with a vertical feed down to the bike.

Back outside today, swapping a transfer box in son’s Landy. Took most of the day to get it out, had the transfer box out of his earlier one in & out in 2 or 3 hours, there seemed to be more room than than in the 5 cylinder, the access panel seems smaller, either that or I’m getting less flexible!

Been in the shop every day since 3days before Xmas eve including today, its been total bliss,heaters on and GB news from the wall mounted tv. Even had regular visits from the wife with tea and stollen
I've been in the workshop most of today.
Having recently been diagnosed with COPD I'm upgrading the dust collection for all the woodworking machines and I started with the mitre saw today. It's far and away the worst offender for creating dust and the fitted port is not very effective so I've made a wooden collector that fits behind the blade:
It's not a permanent fixture and is removable for making angular cuts and when the glue is dry tomorrow I'll drill for a port that I can connect to the shop vac using a Y connector that links up to the existing port. And for the first time today since buying it last year I used this:
And it's a great piece of kit. Bump cap, high impact visor, and positive pressure courtesy of a fan behind the cap which means that I can keep my glasses on and they don't steam up. And the added bonus is that my head doesn't get covered in sawdust so OH is a lot happier!

This afternoon spent making a spring seat/capsule yoke for the pressure switch which will go into my air fed mask upgrade. The original one was swapped into @Pete. s pressure switch I sent him, which had a plastic one which had lost it's ears..
Yes a bit of a faff because it was tiny but I glued the original back together, then onto the end of some ally rod (as a pattern) and mounted it in a dividing head under my vertical mill. Bit of finishing with a needle files, works a treat. No point having machines if you can't be bothered to use them is there?

finishing my trailer repairs,new swivel trailing,tandem things,the 60mm box that I had to join as I didn’t have enough of the 4mm gauge,built up ,drilled and reamed,two new forged swivel mounts,brake rod repaired with new ends,all the brake drums got skimmed in my lathe before new shoes,new UNF bolts and nipples. Oh and a new mudguard.

I'm in the shop every afternoon. Get up at 7-ish. Slow wake-up with lots of coffee and youtube.
My right eye is healing nicely after the vitrectomy. There's still a gas bubble left, but is diminishing by the day.
Still makes reading the small dials on the South Bend lathe a bit awkward.
I'm making a dti holder for de mill but now I need to mill two round parts square. So as a side project I'm now making an adapter plate to fit a 100mm 4 jaw chuck I had on my new rotary table so I can chuck up those parts on the mill.

ive got loads to do and yet cant do a thing as still waiting even after a year
so ive been busy ive chopped up a load of wood to burn off the branches that have been there since my brother refused to move the car and there for a burning tonight
ive even raided his store to burn with and dont really care as its soon to be sold
and ive also been at more of the boundary as i hate boundary extensions when they have no right to do so so ive been ripping off the side and recorrecting it where it should be
the boundary is split as its a shared red brick wall the correct boundary is where that stone top ends

FINALLY got around to replacing my welding gas - and did some welding!!!!! (OK only closed up a few foles that had been drilled in the wrong place, but it all counts!)
Finished making a new 6 hole punch/die - and tried to harden the die. First time I've tried, and I'm not sure it worked well....

Yes, the escape to the workshop is sanity amid the Christmas food, family and TV chore. I hate this time of year, and spend the time off work reworking the tool inventory.
I've reworked 2 Tig torches, made the work returns 10/25 with interchangable clamps and extensions, fitted a qctp to the lathe.
Got a cam belt to change over the weekend.

Been flat out all over Christmas reorganising the storage,trying my best to squeeze in a mountain of gear I have been given. Bought a heap of storage boxes and half a dozen extra label tapes, getting there. Promised myself I wouldnt take any more stuff but this lot is worth it.
