I recentlty bought a brand new ESAB C201, and to be honest, I'm not overly thrilled with it!
The main issue is that I am having REAL trouble setting it up properly. It has 12 voltage settings, and on the lower power settings for thin steel, it seems to work very well indeed. Trying to weld heavier stuff (3mm +) is another story!
I can't seem to find the correct balance between voltage and wire speed. It never seems to produce that nice sizzling sound, and more often than not the penetration seems to be lacking. I have tried the ballpark figures that are quoted on the sticker inside the machine, but it just sounds all wrong. Plenty of buzzing and crackling, but never that nice sizzle.
Also, when I have it on the highest voltage setting, I have to have the wire speed on full to get anywhere near a nice weld - does that suggest that I should be using 1mm wire in the higher settings?
Im running it on a dedicated 20A supply, it has a good earth, and plenty of gas (Agroshield light). Everything is there for it to work nicely, but it just wont!
Any ideas?
