Hi everyone nothing serious as the title might make you think .
It's not the first time I'm having difficulty to organise a toolbox for a particular job.
You know , you will always end up to forget something and bring something you will not need .
So here we are
Next week (probably on Saturday ) I'll have to weld repair a truck bed .
Nothing too complicated by itself , just weld a crack onto a column receiver (7018 vertical up on 5mm tick steel ), and make new brackets for the right fender .
Cut off 600mm good of linear welds which hold the sides lock columns .
Modify the new ones and bolt them down .
Shorten the alluminium sides and rivet them again .
I'm not entirely sure to have everything I need in my toolbox .
-Engine driven welder (instead of inverter to avoid 200+ meters of extension cord)
-Portable breakers and sockets panel with 8 meters long cable (please tell me how it's named this thing I'll leave pictures )
-welding rods E6010 E6013 E7018 in quantity
-welding rods
-electrode holder and groun clamp leads (8+8 meters )
-center punch,chiesels and drifts
-1kg hammer
-2 grinders (metabo W12-125Quick + Hitachi G12SE2)
-1 grinding wheel
-6 cutting wheels
-1 conical wire wheel
-1 wire brush
-a wedge tool to straighten metal sheets
-welding gloves
-welding helmet
-rivet gun
-permanent marker
-metal scribe
-magnetic level
-speed square
-vernier caliper
-cordless drill (which I have to remember to put on charge)
-drill bits
-angle grinder spanner
-1 CEE socket adapter
I'm pretty confident to have forgotten something .
And my toolbox weight almost 30kgs right now
I'm bringing with me something like 150kg of tools for maybe 1 meter of total weld length
How do you prepare your improvised welding rig?
I mean if you have to move tools from your workshop for a repair what you bring with you.
Just remembered to put my tape measure in the toolbox .
I don't repair stuff around anymore , and it's probably the first real job for me with my engine driven in almost 3 years I've bought it (and yes I've already filled the fuel tank)
Ps the thing in the picture , how it's called?
