Ian Wright had a few works to say about the lack of support they've had from the powers that be.

I read quite a bit about the obstacles and lack of support or commitment from the Blokes side.
Now, in the early days it was always a bit of a joke but you only needed to think about it for a minute or two and you would realise, women always get what they want, one way or another, so it was just pure stupidity to not throw your hat in the ring with them. They have very long memories too so they are not likely to forget any time soon.

Whilst I have no interest in the sport, I was surprised by how the ladies got stuck right in and (commendably) played the game, while (from what little I've seen) the blokes seem to throw themselves on the ground for no reason and moan that they've broken a fingernail
