Phew - how much?Yet heating oil just dropped 10p/litre...
We used to get a lot of our diesel from Russia that's why although kero is very similar.

I just took the key figures from a quick skim over the link Kayos posted, but having searched for more information on the figures, you're correct.I think those figures are wrong - 9 bn is for total Dogger Bank project which is estimated to produce 18twh /yr
Nuclear has helped buffer the cost of energy, europewide. Suspect France's wholesale price isn't dissimilar to ours and, if they were privatised the same as ours, don't worry, they'd have no issues hiking up the cost, exporting via interconnectors and makeing record profits there too. All non fossil fuel based energy sources have helped buffer the cost of energy though in these high cost times. Wind, sun, hydro etc though often relatively tiny, have all been lower cost than FF alternatives, even with subsidies. Without them energy would have been EVEN HIGHER!The French government can afford to do this as they have so much nuclear. We can't as we use gas and renewables. Nuclear electricity has not been affected by Putin!
Down to 83.95 ppl with oil-club. Cheapest it's been here since the end of February.Phew - how much?

Lack of investment in nuclear for the last 30 years has caused this.Nuclear has helped buffer the cost of energy, europewide. Much better than it was but I paid 48p last time.Down to 83.95 ppl with oil-club. Cheapest it's been here since the end of February.
Is that the one powered by the very heat it sits upon? Friends of mine in France had a couple sat on their log burner, at one end of their long narrow house. They give a good speed of heat all through.A TEG powered fan, presumably?
My step son-in-law has had one for several years. Parked on top of the wood burner, he now has a bungalow that is warm from end to end, with the living room-to-hall door open.
Didn't Boris just state he will be opening one nuclear station every year, rather than one every ten. So, when is the first of these expected to start pumping out electric? And is there any substance to his ambition, or is it just lip service to the poor freezing masses?Lack of investment in nuclear for the last 30 years has caused this.
I was looking back over the weekly emails oil-club send me.Much better than it was but I paid 48p last time.
Yes stove top fan powered by the Peltier effect. They help quite a bit.Is that the one powered by the very heat it sits upon? Friends of mine in France had a couple sat on their log burner, at one end of their long narrow house. They give a good speed of heat all through.
Oddly enough, their 'house' was based around an ancient village bread oven, a pretty big one, and they added and extended it to make a really cool place to live.

Oh for a 100,000 litre tankI was looking back over the weekly emails oil-club send me.
1st May 2020 I filled the tank at 17.82 ppl...
All that lack of investment in nuclear has caused, is; not as much nuclear as we might have had.Lack of investment in nuclear for the last 30 years has caused this.
Exactly - from French news website:That's not true, French public pay less for their juice because their government have intervened and helped keep prices down.
I don't understand. If we had loads more nuclear we wouldn't need expensive Russian gas. How wouldn't it help? All that lack of investment in nuclear has caused, is; not as much nuclear as we might have had.
Lots more nuclear wouldn't solve all the issues were having, or have stopped them happening. It would have also resulted in other knock on consequences too, like, probably, higher energy costs over the past decades. The current energy cost situation and its potential solutions are complex with lots of factors/causes!
Wife is finishing up a construction project that has a 40,000 litre diesel tank which they'll be filling at ~ £1.70/litre.Oh for a 100,000 litre tank
Because of the ban on red I assume?Wife is finishing up a construction project that has a 40,000 litre diesel tank which they'll be filling at ~ £1.70/litre.
They'll need it filled every 2 weeks the rate they use it!
Dunno. She might have said but I probably tuned out by that point.Because of the ban on red I assume?
I think that £1.70 was based on the "small" order of 5k litres to get things up and running or something. They wont be paying £1.70 either
They will be buying on spot market or bulk price, but still scary
Not so sure. I know haulage companies with their own tanks only get it a few pennies cheaper than Tesco sell it for. They wont be paying £1.70 either
