You’ve had a visit from Leigh
What cutter you using John?I have nothing to gauge the cons wear against
A friend has the same torch and he is happy with his
The cons bits are cheap
The water tray was empty and is due for a clean out
I am sure you will get a better answer on the cons
R Tech 50 amp CNC plasma been no problem at allWhat cutter you using John?
Not really, beside needing to learn how to restart an interrupted cut as I found out that when the compressor cuts in it causes the arc to drop it went fairly smooth.Thats a very nice cut on 25mm . Did you have to fettle that much to get it to what you see there ?
The TecArch65 was choice number 2 the Oxfords thermal heating option clinched it for me. Have you made any cuts in thick steel with yours, I could do with a bit more information on edge starts as I am find it a bit hit or miss.Looks like the Oxfords cut as well as the TecArcs
Never really had an issue with edge starts, just position the torch at the edge at the cut height start with a short dwell then let it go.
Feeling pleased with myself today as I have just cut my first 25mm thick part with this Oxford Cutmaker 700. Many thanks to Rob at Xtreme Engineering for all his help in getting me to this stage. To bad he couldn't have prepared me for the quality of the drawings I got supplied with. A outline traced with what looks like a kids crayon on the inside of a wheatabix box. I am still laughing at the look he gave me when I asked which side of the line to use.

As for the Oxford, whilst I am very happy with the performance of this machine and in a direct comparison with the Powermax 45 the cut quality is every bit as good the Hypertherm does have a lot going for it in terms of documentation. But its plus points are 70amps single phase and a around £1200 cheaper than the Hypertherm 65.
I was starting the arc ok but then it dropped and carried on with the job without a flame. I was Not using the THC. Are you using Mach 3 ?Would still work ok as long as you were on the edge, off slightly and the arc wouldn't start and thus the Arc Good signal wouldn't be seen and it would just sit there. Is that the issue you have been having?
I think you are correct, I believe he wants them for his tractor tyres.looks like a tyre hook for fitting commercial tyres?
