Selling on eBay has turned from a simple job to something that needs an app, a load of patience and time.

I had the same problem yesterday trying to buy a portable solar charger with power bank from Amazon for a friend - they wont send to a Scottish island because of the small lithium battery. Huge lithium batteries in EVs are allowed onto the same ferry that travels to here though! Had to order the solar charger from Amazon, then take a chance on an unknown power bank from ebay, which added quite a lot to the cost. No problems till we joined the EU, when they classed an island about 12 miles off the mainland as "offshore" and subject to countless restrictions. Ridiculously these restrictions have not been removed after leaving EU.

I have enough Air miles for a trip to Australia or a four star hotel in the Med. for a week!

You could go to Spain or Portugal but you might need a torch.

air miles is no good to me as goes for the cash back its peanuts anyway

unless you can convert those air miles into cash instead of the same value

You can link a debit card to eBay, doesn't have to be a credit card.


You'd think our little island was in the South Pacific to some sellers and not 12 miles from mainland UK (at its closest point).
Appreciate there are additional postage costs but blanket "seller doesn't post to Northern Ireland " **Language**s me off. Not helped by the idiots in Stormont and their squabbling over sea borders

Yes and no. Obviously I do have a debit card and it is linked to eBay but they specifically require a credit card for the purposes of "age verification". Apparently this is because the qualification for a credit card has built in age verification whereas (I assume) a debit card does not.

Many thanks @Craig-SM, got the kit and it's actually pretty good - certainly at the price.

It has a double pulley so generates a huge cutting force. I just bolted it to a length of lightweight pipe (doesn't come with) and so far so good...

I just had the same age verification credit card request for a concrete saw. Seemed a bit bonkers
