still a horrid car, I mean a non sporty sports car with high manufacturing costsIf you want an easy car to weld avoid anything french as they are made of very thin metal. I've got used to welding them now but it's not easy. I had to weld a patch on the sill on an astra and it a pleasure to weld compared to the french tin.

If you go around a scrapyard now you will find it's full of rot free cars that are there simply because of age (worthless to traders so scrapped when PX'd), or mechanical / electrical fault.
In local scrapyard I see the average age is now 52 reg !

Scrap yards are even selling one or two of the better ones as runners! what bothers me is this is supposed to be good for global warming how? the carbon costs of commissioning a big chunk of metal like a car is far larger than its emissions
think the question should be which are are the worst to weld up. I'd have to anything made by BL. Full of water traps, poor drainage, poor quality metal and probably been patched to buggery over the years. That said, before you chose a car, look at what panel sare made for it and the cost of those panels. Mini's, Minors, MG's, Triumphs, Jags etc are all well served with quality repro panel. I'm builidn g a For Popular 100E and only Expressed Panels makes the panels for them. They're good quality but very expensive, so much so, the cost to properly restored shell would be double it's actual worth.
