I do feel that this product is aimed at those who don't necessarily own a tig welder.... as to buy a tig would be very expensive for all but the professionals.... it's also great for the more delicate jobs like repairing crack in castings etc. Horses for coarses I guess.... with everything having it's niche.
I am very encouraged by the positive feedback I have received though, with many people having not heard of it before.... so better marketing maybe?

ive only just started welding using a MIG but ive always wondered how people would weld alli im not a company or self employed it would only be for hobby items but this would fill a gap for me not owning a tig welder or the space to keep one.

whats the average price on this stuff as id be game to try it but the prices on ebay are all over the shop.

our prices on ebay vary on quantities, from a few pounds... through to hundreds for bulk trade packs... have a look as we do have 5 rod kits for not too much...

tried the coke can hole like in the vids ...no probs , just as easy as the vids explain it

i did have a bigger item i was hoping to test it on , but it seems i cant heat it enough , can you reccomend an afforable heat source that does the job ?

also its not helping me clamping the parts in a vice or with steel grips as its a huge heat soak , any tips for holding stuff together that wont loose all my heat?

it all depends on the size and shape of your work.... i use a silica hearth for small jobs, but must admit that some items are tricky to hold securely. But then, that's the same with everything in the brazing world really. the heat source will depend on the mass of your work too, so can't really recommend anything for you without knowing a little more detail... I use a mappro ts7000 which does the job for most things.... On larger items, it will take alot longer to bring up to temperature, especially if you're outside....

heres the torch i used it works fine. if the heat is disipating crush some fire bricks up or soft grey breeze blocks into small lumps and pack them round your job and that will retain the heat

its a calor propane refillable but u can buy disposables the torch is a rothenberger used by plumbers. it has a swirling action and the flame heats round the pipe

Thanks so much everyone for your comments. It's great to hear your thoughts on the product and the way it's brought to Market. I have tried to get it stocked in the large "sheds" but they don't deal with companies promoting single product lines, meaning I have to try and get in with a distributor who currently supplies said sheds... It's political and doesn't favour small businesses, let's leave it at that. I Amin talks though, so we'll see.
On a different note, if any self employed welder, or welding business on this forum, would like to try a FREE trial rod... Then please email me your details and I'll send you a pack to try. The only thing I ask is you get beack to me with your comments.... Can't be fairer than that?

I have used a couple of different makes and found that with practice it makes a good strong job,Put in some time learning on pieces of scrap ally and it is definitely a good addition to the tool box.

Made a lightweight instruments support frame for one of my motorbikes using durafix to join the pieces together. Bike sold a long time ago but I was happy with the outcome.

Oil filler funnel

I have used a similar product to repair the oil filler "horn" on my 34 Wolseley Hornet special. The vehicle had been in a crash sometime before I bought the car resulting in damage to the chassis & the oil filler funnel which is situated on the side of the engine just behind the chassis rail hence the damage.
Some previous owner had tried to repair the funnel 3 bolt flange but by the time I had the car the repair was literally crumbling.
The funnel is "horn" shaped & the only means of saving it was to cut off the crumbling flange, make another out of sheet aluminium & rejoin them.
The horn is one of those cheap & nasty alloys much liked by car manufacturers (similar alloy to SU carburettor bodies) & totally incompatible with the new flange.
With very little to lose, as the original part was shot, I purchased one of these kits & gave it a try.
Much to my amazement & delight the repair worked perfectly. Though, As others have said you do need to make sure you get enough heat into the job & pre-clean the joint surfaces thoroughly with the s/s brush provided.
The joint appears to be very strong & the only negative side is you get to much filler into the joint it's very hard to remove it with a file. The manufacturers claim it's strong enough to take a thread & based on my experience filing it I tend to believe them.

I haven't used this but have used a similar item HTS2000 and found it suitable for many ally applications. I would think Durafix is a very similar product. Good addition to the workshop.

done an austin 7 snapped window winder handle with it today worked a treat.
made out of pot metal.
expensive stuff but with limited spare parts available it saved the day.
