Took a few precautions first thing;
Didn't stop a tree coming down across the lane four hours later;
Its was pinning the phone line, but 1/2 hour with the 36v Makita had it cleared away.
All quiet now. Apparently we've got heavy rain coming. Something to look forward to.

a man after my own heart !!I didnt know either, but not surprising as De haviland had pioneered wooden monocoque construction with the mosquito, Fairey was another company that built many wooden aircraft. The glues of the time would most likely been urea formaldehyde which gets brittle with age & has a lifespan of around 30 years. Seems this tree was resting on the power lines since yesterday but nobody thought to say anything
UKPN have taken one look and shut it all off
Temporary generator might turn up later this evening but it also might not as they're running short for some reason

There's a tree down our lane that's been getting closer to 45 degrees around this time every year for the past 4 years.
Did not move at all this time round
How vertical is the upper growth?

No problemo, it'll head for Aberdeen. The brother in law lives there. He likes to phone me and tell me how nice it is when he see's its peeing down in Surrey. He did say they had a really nice day yesterday. A sprinkle of snow then clear blue skies. Hmmm.
