Took a few precautions first thing;
Didn't stop a tree coming down across the lane four hours later;
Its was pinning the phone line, but 1/2 hour with the 36v Makita had it cleared away.
All quiet now. Apparently we've got heavy rain coming. Something to look forward to.

Woke up a hour later from my pre sleep nap. Walked up to the toilets on the industrial estate. Toilet door pretty much bought it. Freshly painted on Tuesday,didn’t have a very long service life. Wind must of got behind it and slammed it into the window sill,despite it having an automatic door closer on the inside .Must have had some force to break that glass.

Glass looks like its gone from the inside out JB, could have been an explosion caused by an unsuspecting smoker walking in on someone evacuating a Vindaloo.

It’s from the door slamming open, coming to an abrupt halt and the weight of the reinforced window deciding it’s going to party with Eunice….The tenant directly opposite saw it go. The whole frame piece of the window is ripped out the door.
Its one of those stupid things . Maintenance man has been told repeatedly. The door opens the wrong way. But he always knows better. I said then,do yourself a favour. The prevailing wind is always down the drive. Fit a new door that opens the opposite way, then, when we get heavy winds,the door will be pushed closed,not open…Fell on deaf ears

a man after my own heart !!I didnt know either, but not surprising as De haviland had pioneered wooden monocoque construction with the mosquito, Fairey was another company that built many wooden aircraft. The glues of the time would most likely been urea formaldehyde which gets brittle with age & has a lifespan of around 30 years. I suspect that that vampire was as rotten as a pear under that pretty paint!Bloody 'ell, I didn't know they were half plywood.

Seems this tree was resting on the power lines since yesterday but nobody thought to say anything
UKPN have taken one look and shut it all off
Temporary generator might turn up later this evening but it also might not as they're running short for some reason

There's a tree down our lane that's been getting closer to 45 degrees around this time every year for the past 4 years.
Did not move at all this time round

No problemo, it'll head for Aberdeen. The brother in law lives there. He likes to phone me and tell me how nice it is when he see's its peeing down in Surrey. He did say they had a really nice day yesterday. A sprinkle of snow then clear blue skies. Hmmm.
