Dual monitor pc set-up.......As title, anyone got/use one?

As per thread title, anyone got/use one? If so, I'd welcome your observations.

After trying and failing to resurrect my dead desktop I decided I'd spent enough of my life looking at/poking at/cursing it so am going to buy a 'higher' spec refurbished job. I've done a lot of searching over the weekend, and am hoping to pull the trigger before 10 a.m. tomorrow to get next day delivery. [Impatient......moi?

I could buy just a box, but am thinking of something like this [in fact, one of these] on the basis that if I decide to work away with my present 22" Asus monitor, I can always flog the 2 x 19" ones on Gumtree and recoup some of the cost [or vice versa

Only 2... my old rig.

Double monitors are a worth addition. The extra real estate is very helpful especially when collating info from various sources.

Currently using a 50 inch HDTV but gives me a healthy amount of real estate to work with.

One day I might have the passion to build a setup like above again.

I've set countless dual screen pcs up and have a setup myself. Wouldn't be without it.

Have had at least 2 monitors for years wont be without 2 as a minimum now.
1st set up was 2 Sony 21" crt's they came into the office window via a forklift could hardly lift them little carry up stairs and along a corridor.
That was on win NT as 95 did not have dual support.
Currently have a 3 screen set up with one set up in portrait mode, that make such a difference now so much comes in as pdf rather than hard copies printed.

Hell yeah I would be lost without 2 monitors. I even use a monitor on my lappy at work so I can have 2 screens.

Looking at the spec for that ebay link, it says they are using VGA to connect the computer to the monitor. I'd go for HDMI/DVI these days as you get less artifacts as that would be a pure digital setup rather than digital at the computer to analogue via the VGA and then back to digital in the monitors.

Yup, bare minimum setup tbh. Especially when editing video (Final Cut Pro) but I couldn't imagine using a single monitor unless it was unfeasibly wide.

Mac Pro setup with a matched pair of Cinema Displays.

As above, couldn't be without mine, currently have 2x 24" TFT screens, also have a dual screen KVM so I can dock my work laptop and use the dual screens and switch between that and my desktop PC easily

2 is good and would probably go for more if the desk space was available

I have one 23" directly in front of me that I use for most work and then a 19 to the side that I leave outlook open on to keep up to date with emails

I chose the 23" and the 19 I grabbed as it wasn't being used

I would be very reluctant to go back to one monitor

A point well made and I can see the sense in your suggestion :hug:

, but thinking about it I've had the present VGA set-up for maaaany years :ashamed:

and have never had any issues with it [not a gamer]. And, I may in a moment of weakness, keep the 22" and mount it centrally above the twins as per @WorkshopChris 's idea. :clapping:

I wouldnt touch it as it suffers from over heat problems and on top of that getting a good graphics card in it when needed to upgrade isnt a nice price

ive used dual screen before comes in handy if you want to watch something and do something else on the same computer

ive also dual screened to the tv as well for the same thing but thats down to your pcs mainbox and graphics card

theres no reference to its cpu chip is it i5 or i7 i7 been the newest

None of the above. I3 max as dual core. Might even be a ctd

-job done. I'm sure I'll see a big difference in performance as my pc currently only has 2GB of memory and a Pentium D processor. It's at least 9 years old :ashamed:

so it doesn't owe me anything. :vsad:

This one comes with 12 months warranty and the Sellers feedback is good.

EDIT: I can always return it, and although I could have bought a new 'all singing, all dancing' pc I've played the 'instantly obsolete' game before with them, and at 70....... :whistle:

LOL. Definition of unfeasibly wide!

I was reminded of my old work desk at Siemens.

One of those monitors had to flick between three PCs running a variety of OSes, several flavours of Windoze plus Mac and Linux. I think one of the spods even got me set up with a couple of flavours of linux.

Crazy days. We had to deliver services to every operating system imaginable (the dev team for iPlayer are in the background here). I wasn't "one of them", all I had to do was look busy...

My excuse for it was "I don't do adverts" ....always hated them spoiling the program so tend to watch more on the computer, quick to download a full series to watch when you want.(torrent)

Plus I edit a lot of photo's, the newer 34" screens have a curved screen a big no no for photo work.
