Dual monitor pc set-up.......As title, anyone got/use one?

Heavily into music production and gaming at the time. Trying to do either on Linux back then put me off.

Would probably suit my needs a lot better these days though id still run a windows boot for my music software.

I didn't read all five pages but just wanted to dive in to heartily recommend spending £35 on one of these:

They make a tremendous difference when working with two monitors and have the added benefit of getting the displays off your desk so you get more space.

Dell sell a very similar unit for £300 but I can confirm that this one on Amazon comfortably holds two 27" monitors

Right, an update on this.

Boxes arrived yesterday c. lunchtime and unpacked and all laid out. No k/board - not a major problem as I have 2 already. On to Seller who apologised and agreed to send one out. Computer is a Dell Optiplex 780.

Built up monitor stand and mounted monitors (matching Dell units), 2 x VGA cables but only 1 port one back of pc, so an adaptor/splitter of some kind needed. Not a problem, I can meantime test using just the one. When mains power was connected there was a LOUD 'click' then nothing - dead...... todt....... mort....... Changed the fuse in the plug, no difference so I've sent the Seller a request to arrange a refund and Courier uplift.

Every day a school day, eh? Back to the drawing board but I may go with just getting a box and use my existing periphalper. No rush as I can use my laptop and tablet meantime.

that loud click was the power supply tripping out someone earthed the mainboard to the case usually causes this to happen

usually if your lucky you can unplug the lot remount the mainboard and plug everything back in and try again and hope the power supply hasnt gone bang on the fuse

Thanks, but I definitely don't want to go messing with it - I'd end up getting the blame somehow . Seller has good f/back so don't expect a problem. Half packed up & will box the rest tonight.

Maybe a problem

You can’t use a cable splitter/adapter two connect to monitors to a single port. You would need a graphics card with two ports, or buy a USB graphic adapter (I bought an excellent one for £45 from amazon).


But it’s probably all a moot point if you’re sending it back!

Hmm.
Not fit for purpose then. Sent with 2 monitors and no way of connecting them up.
Would need a cheap gpu with dual vga or dvi and dvi to vga adapters. Easy enough to find.
