Dsg 2112

Hi all, I'm looking for a decent sized lathe for new workshop.
Was looking at Colchester mascot and Harrison m500s, the design and functionality of which I'm well used to from my younger years. But I'm struggling to find a good one for decent money but I've just come across a dsg 2112 that would be perfect. For an old girl She's in pretty good condition, the main slide ways are better than excellent. There's a bit of wear in the cross slide (think it might have done a fair bit of facing ect), comes with a fair bit of tooling, 3+4 jaw chucks ,18 inch face plate and a taper attachment too.
It's really well priced as well, however I'm worried about two things the main gear box is a bit noisy especially in hi rpms, it's not bad enough that you would run for cover but there's a fair whine all the same and it's a design that's a bit intimating to me seems to be levers and buttons everywhere you could think of sticking them!
Any thoughts or info would be much appreciated.

The Colchesters and Harrison's I was looking at are all 6+.

Yea, their said to b a fine lathe alright.
I've never used one, trained on Colchester students and triumphs then moved on to m series Harrison's during my apprenticeship.
A lathe is just a lathe I'd get the swing of it soon enough, does any one have any idea where I'd get a manual?

A Colchester or Harrison, actually anything feels like total junk after running a dsg
The vat on a dsg was more than a Colchester….

Those later square heads are noisier and run hotter than the rounded head dsg
A good machine but not as long lived as the pre seventies machines .

The screw cutting box is a complicated faff compared to any other lathe. Basically dsg saw you either bought a inch lathe or metric and only finally accepted you need both forms with the introduction of the square head in the seventies , perhaps this explains it
Mine is set up for ba threads so I’ve never screw cut on it.
Does it have the thread chasing dial than can do metric threads?

I'm not sure pressbreak the thread indicator on the left needs tidying up but does show both inch and metric settings, the viewing glass of thread dial indicator on the left side of the carriage is badly tarnished and would need cleaning.
All the embossed indicator plates and nameplates need work as their very hard to make out.
I'll add photos when I figure out how to do it.

One thing to do is make sure you have the supply to run it in your new workshop.

I know its a genuine crime,
I'm told it's only been out a few days but I suspect it's been there longer. I wiped down the ways and rubbed gear oil I had in the van into them before I left. Even if I don't take it couldn't walk away without doing it...

The thread indicator position is a major design flaw. One mine it’s tarnished and swarf gets wedged between it and the bed
These lathes were made under American influence and a new chief engineer

Just a quick update, bought the dsg this morning on the condition that it was placed back inside the workshop until I could organise collection.
Called to pay for it after lunch and found my new pride and joy had already been moved into the workshop with an apprentice cleaning and wiping it down with wd40.
The owner said he didn't mind moving it back in but has a big job coming in next week and could I move it ASAP.
So my First of what will probably be many questions is, does anyone know what weight a 2112*80 is I'd estimate approx 3.5 tonne.
If I'm right I'll move it with the jeep and Brian james , if its much more than 3.8 I'd have to organise a lorry.

Is that a second tailstock type thing on the cross slide? I've never seen that before, very cool.
