As for pricing, Mrs Robo had the RAC out when her Meriva wouldn't start at the stables and the chap diagnosed a dead battery (OE battery about 8 years old) he had one on the van and would fit it for £140 odd, I politely declined and bought a better make with a longer warranty from Battery Megastore for about £80..

Personally I have no issues with RAC charging a premium if they have the battery and can get you on road. Fortunately your wife was local and you were able to help. If she had been 4 hrs away and cold wet winter night then that extra £60 would be money well spent.

I had my massive land rover battery delivered on a pallet by Tayna ,which was good,but last week they sent me a 12v motorcycle battery that was showing just 9.5v.
I asked why they'd not been arsed to test it but they'd no answer to that .They'd not refund or replace until they'd received and tested their dead battery,which I felt was unhelpful.

That is quite normal for Tayna for that reason alone I will never use them again

Well they did swap them out, DHL this time. Half past bleedin 7 on a Saturday (after a sleepless night).

Anyhow. Time to fire up the old van, see if it still runs.

Sorry I should have said I only buy the Yuasa branded ones, I dont think it is the make so much just that when/if it goes tits up you can sort it out quickly just by visiting the store.

When you need something urgently they turn up at 16:00 but when you don't damn sure they'll be there early.

Ordered a battery from Tanya yesterday and it was delivered first thing this morning. This must be at least the 10th, or probably more, that I've had from them that are always very carefully packaged in polystyrene sheets

Working in goods out for Tayna must be a miserable job, it's a mission to unpack them so I can't imagine what it must be like packing 100s every day.

What happened with mine is that there were two sheets of polystyrene on the top and not one on the bottom, just the industrial bubble wrap.

Anyhow, the van didn't start. Think it needs fuel...
