Did mine on my phone I was a worthwhile experience.
Good idea, you could do it and go for a drive at the same time.
I prefer to watch out for cameras and coppers. Much cheaper. Keeps you alert. Defensive driving technique.
Not always easy. I was flashed at 34 in a 30, believing it to be a 40.
Very easy when the same road switches from 30-40-30-40 etc for no apparent reason. Poorly illuminated signs, obscured by other signs or greenery. Its an easy way to earn money.

My new car has road sign recognition and monthly updated maps including speed limits and camera locations. The speed limiter is linked to both and be set to continuously update the set speed to match.
Even it has problems knowing what the prevailing limit really is. Two specific 'local' problem areas I am aware of and careful about for different reasons.
One is where the Highway Agency guidelines don't support a reduced limit on a national speed limit single carriageway. So they put up a 40 or 50 sign with a black border - advisory only and unenforceable. Several such in the area, but the car isn't programmed to differentiate colour. I can and I know what the hazard the sign supposedly protects actually presents. So I can make my own measured dynamic risk assessment and select an appropriate speed but have to slow down for grockles who can't. Irritating but not costly.
Another is the infamous Brynglas Tunnel on the M4 where the variable speed limit is invariably 50 whenever I have the misfortune to drive the route.
All fine except traveling eastbound the gaps between the 'repeaters' exceeds the required distance and the car reverts to 70mph limiter for a few hundred yards before seeing the next 50mph sign. I know about that quirk and hold off resuming a normal cruise at that point, but I am regularly overtaken by those who don't - or are even better informed locals who know exactly where the in-service cameras are!
I got caught some time ago further east on the M4 where long-standing road works had a 'temporary' 50 mph limit but again inadequate repeaters, so about a mile after the last coned off section I reset the cruise to '70mph' to meet a random 50mph sign a mile further on. No there was no realistic option to appeal because by the time I got the NIP all the 'temporary' signs and coned off sections had been relocated and the dashcam files overwritten. I still don't know how many lives and limbs I put at risk by this dangerous activity of mine!
So it isn't always a case of the driver not paying attention - it's can be a case of the relevant information not being presented to the driver in a usable form!
I won't bore you with the section of local road that had been 60mph from 1979 to 2003 then changed to 30mph sometime later in time for me to return to the area in 2004.
