Just an observation….while you wait till the new year for a belt.you could make a guard for all exposed rotating parts.

Parmster it looks like the wrong section belt, from the top pic it looks like its sitting too high in the pulley. May pay to identify the belt section before throwing sheckles at it.

Yeah but if he goes into work missing a finger or two they'll ask questions...
Can you get access around both pulleys? If you can I would use a standard v belt of the right length rather than a linked belt - they are much (much much) cheaper and quieter too. Nothing wrong with linked belts where you have to use them but if you don’t …
Ha ha I’m almost never right Ali but I know my lathe has a bit of a noise from the linked belt - it’s not bad but I always seem to get that “tap tap tap” - whether it’s just psychological because I know it’s a linked belt who knowsI always thought link belts (against all odds) were quieter, but you’re usually right about these things so I checked Google (always right, everyone knows). Something to do with harmonics I don’t understand but we’re both right so that’s ok.
Nothing. Take the broken link out and refit it. Plenty of movement in the motor mount to deal with the shorter belt. Gravity keeps t tensioned. The belt snapped on the power hacksaw
